@friedmermaid thanks:( i got a 1390 for my sat and that’s basically all. my school is really strict about not letting us know our GPAs so I cant compare much after that:( hope we get to be class mates
is the waitlist need-aware or need-blind?
@imonthewaitlist it seems need aware-ish because people who are getting interest emails are being asked to fill out a form saying they can gaurentee they are financially able to pay for all of NYU (even if they had originally applied for financial aid). I don’t think it matters if you originally applied for aid, but if you are asked to complete the form you have to say that if you go to NYU that you will be 100% able to pay for it, and if you cant they will take you off the waitlist.
@20122638 wait so if we get the interest email we wont get any fin aid or is it just a test to see how interested you are?
@dreamscape99 yes. They basically trap you. Getting an email is good because it means they are very interested in your application but they also give you an ultimatum. Theres only one question and they tell you that you have to answer yes to stay on the list it says “if i am accepted to NYU i will attend and be able to afford it financially without any aid or scholarships”. So if you answer no then youre off the list. NYU isnt known for aid. And chances are they dont have much left anyways.
@dreamscape99 – if you look back in this thread, you will see that this is not true. They do ask if you would accept an offer of admission if made but there is no reference to being able to afford it without aid/scholarships. If you look further back to the thread for last year’s waitlist, you will also see that some waitlist offers did include aid. The aid offers seemed to come separate from/later than the admission offer, and it seems reasonable to assume that not as much aid would be available in general for wl candidates (just a guess), but some aid was offered according to those who posted.
When do you think CAS will start releasing interest emails?
@AJSTAN Unfortunately what @20122638 has said in response to @dreamscape99 ‘a question is true.
@izzy292 according to last year’s waitlist response times, CAS will be sending their emails within the next week… I’m waiting on it too, good luck!
Is tisch done sending interest emails? I’m waitlisted for drama and I don’t know of any info for drama waitlist-ees who got an interest email; i’m slowly losing hope but still wishing for the best!!
@GabeLeeOhHoney I am also wait listed for Drama and received the first email but not an interest one. I also have 2 friends that are wait listed for drama as well. I’ll post if I get any more information. The fact that I know people who are on the waitlist for drama scares me cuz it means they prob wait listed so many people
@GabeLeeOhHoney @angelaxoxo i’m also waitlisted for drama!!
Any ideas as to when Tandon starts releasing decisions ?
It seems likely we will hear later this week or early next week since last years thread indicated activity around Thursday, May 11, 2017; but with record applications perhaps it will take a few extra days to get through their process. Stay strong everyone.
Has NYU released the number of students who accepted the waitlist? I know it was offered to 15000 ish but how many people are actually on the waitlist?
Hi, I also got an interest letter from Gallatin? Could we share our status together? I am kind of newvois since I received the interest letter last Wed but I have not heard any news from NYU til now.
@AJSTAN it is true actually, i got the emial myself. In the emial they say that there are very few scholarships left and they have almost no aid. And then they ask you if you will be able to pay for it all yourself and if you say no then they take you off the wait list. That doesnt mean theres no chance youll get aid but im guessing people getting so much aid it actually makes a price difference is extreamly rare. And it makes sense why they send out this email. They want their acceptance rate as low as possible, so they vet everyone very carefully pretty much insuring anyone they let off the wait list will be a good student, who is financially able to pay, and will 100% attend.
Recently received news that the CAS is pretty full this year and that waitlist acceptance letters are going to be minimal.
@carpfire where did you hear that?
@carpfire do you know anything of Tisch (specifically drama?)
