Dance daughter was waitlisted for Tisch Dance. Anyone know if there’s any hope of getting in off of the waitlist or is it time to accept that the dream won’t come true?
@dkmm1973 My daughter was also waitlisted. I guess we just wait? I am wondering how many kids are waitlisted for dance?
It’d be nice to know that wouldn’t it!?! Did you daughter accept another school yet? They have to accept elsewhere since NYU doesn’t review the waitlist until May.
@dkmm1973 We are about to pay the deposit for Purhcase. What about your daughter?
We paid Purchase and then she changed her mind. She has decided on George Mason. (unless NYU comes through)
Seems like waitlist offers might be coming sooner than later… My daughter got an email last night asking if she was still interested…
same. I wonder if there are even any spots available.
My daughter declined NYU…so might be a spot.
@linda743 where did your daughter decide to commit? And if you don’t mind me asking why did she decline?
@birdie13 She is going to USC. She felt that that program was more suited to her. We went to a NYU show recently and she didn’t see herself on that stage performing what she watched.
I’m glad she found the right place for her.
@dkmm1973 Thanks. I certainly hope she has. Time will tell. They are both amazing programs so she couldn’t go wrong either way. I’m glad for this process to be over.
My daughter chose George Mason over highly ranked programs because she felt like it was the right place for her.
@dkmm1973 when we were college searching for my son (not a dancer), George Mason was on his list of finalists and one of my favorites schools we visited. It is a phenomenal school and with a great dance program. I hope your daughter loves it.
@linda743 What exactly is it that your daughter watched tisch dancers performing on “that stage” that she couldn’t see herself doing?? Been to many NYU dance performances with many aspiring dancers from different parts of the country and all of us have always walked away in awe and totally inspired by the dancers and their versatility, authentic movement quality and pure talent… not to mention the amazing variety of choreography being displayed! I must admit, your comment caught me off guard, tisch dancers are some of the very best performers!! If you don’t mind me asking, what is your daughter’s future goals or aspirations as a dancer?
Someone just posted today that their daughter got off the dance waitlist
@linda743 Was it the April 2019 Second Avenue Dance company performance? My daughter and wife went to see it and they were not impressed Despite the experience, daughter is auditioning today at NYU.
We saw an April 2019 performance and it was quite disappointing - and they were seniors.
@Undercovermom1 and @smca2x we must have been at the same performance last year.
@smca2x Good luck to your daughter at her audition. It never hurts to audition at one of the most highly ranked and respected dance programs in the country such as NYU Tisch School of the Arts!!!
