So I was looking at NYU’s total cost of attendance and it is estimated to be around 70k. But this estimate is factored in with a two bedroom suite that I about 16k.
Now, I just looked at a chart of the list of the dorms and their numbers and found at that a 3 Bedroom shared Dorm at Rubin (No Air Condition) only costs about 10k. This is significantly less than 16k.
Now my question is do I get the option of choosing to room at Rubin with the 3 Bedrooms for this really cheap price?
You list your preferred dorm buildings by ranking and check off that you want to be considered for low-cost housing. They can’t guarantee that you get what you want, but if you really can’t afford anything else then you’ll definitely be near the top of the list for the cheapest housing.
It says room and board On that cost sheet I think and freshman are required to buy meal plan, about 2400 dollars or something like that so maybe they added the price of the meal in it
The new NYU president has announced that he is committed to (1) freezing housing and meal plan prices for 2016-17 at the 2015-16 rates, and (2) increasing the amount of the lowest-cost housing options by about 700 beds, if I recall correctly. However, I do not believe that there is any low cost housing option that provides three bedrooms. You are probably looking at 3 beds within a single room at that price (i.e., a “triple”). And yes, all freshmen in dorms must purchase a minimum meal plan.
