Hi guys,

I was hoping to get some insights. I'm not an NYU student but I'll be interning at NYC this summer and will be living in the Greenwich Residence Hotel (dorm).

Has anybody had experience living in a dorm as a summer student/intern at NYU? I'll be working M-F 50-60 hrs so my situation I guess is a little different (not taking summer courses, just working)

You’ll be in the majority. There are more non-NYU kids in dorms than NYU. The flood of summer interns for all industries, especially finance, means $ to universities with otherwise empty housing. Your dorm life won’t be spectacular, because the NYU kids there taking classes already know and go out with other NYU kids, and everyone else is working so much that schedules are irregular. You need to make friends beforehand, know people already in the city, or be a legend in terms of getting to know people in the 90 seconds you see them as you wait for and take the elevator down in the morning if you’re looking to have a social life inside your building.

My perspective might be a bit harsh, but last year I was taking classes and this year I’m working 80ish a week in finance.

not harsh at all! thanks for the awesome response. Anyone else have some insights?
