Does CAS admit by major? Or is it all just admits to “the freshman class” and you declare it in junior year?
@GiannaC3 Holy crap, 12 A’s in AP Classes!!! That’s crazy! I think that Philosophy would be a cool thing to study. For next semester I need to take an elective social science and I’m debating between philosophy and sociology. I put sociology on my application, but I don’t think NYU would really care if I make that switch. Anyway, you application looks really good. Good luck! (I’ve already bitten my nails to nubs and it’s not even December yet–the wait is killing me!)
Guys I’m reading all this stuff from the last couple years about the FA/Housing change that is supposed to indicate whether or not you got in? My NYU Albert still says “no financial aid info available,” but I guess if you get in that changes before admissions decisions are released. There’s something that changes for housing too, like it changes from undergraduate to freshman. Is this still a thing? I don’t see anything about housing on NYU Albert.
@nyuhopeful44 could you explain to me the change? What comes up for FA and housing that indicates that you’ve been admitted? My financial aid just recently changed from no financial aid info available and now it says aid year 2019 and that inquiry access has been denied.
@nyuhopeful44 where are you supposed to see the NYU housing change? Like on Albert when I click on the Housing Payment thing it just gives me a link to go to NYU Bursar.
@nyuhopeful44 also I think CAS admits you by major, but it’s hella easy to switch your major within CAS, you just like fill out a form and you’re good.
@HerNameisAmazon I think the change is supposed to be that it goes from either “There is no financial aid info available” or “inquiry access has been denied” to "“No self-service access for this aid year.”
@HerNameisAmazon if this FA Change thing is true, I believe that’s what you want to see I’ve heard that it says something along the lines as “no self-service aid this year” like @goldfishy19 said. I’ve also seen some posts that say someone got the change but was ultimately denied, so idk if it’s true or not.
@goldfishy19 thanks for the info, the reason I ask is that I haven’t seen anyone on CC say that they’re applying ED my CAS major (global public health), so I hope that means that maybe I have a better shot? Maybe I’m just being too hopeful. Idk. I’m going to check my NYU Albert now and look for the FA change. Wish me luck lol
Also @goldfishy19 where on albert does it say anything about housing? I don’t see anything, but I’m also really bad with computers (like grandma-status bad)
Guys it still says “no financial aid information found” :((
@nyuhopeful44 for the FA change are you checking under Financial Aid Summary? When I check under Financial Aid Summary I have three rows which have 2019, 2018, and 2017. 2018 and 2017 both have inquiry access denied, and the 2019 row has “Financial Aid Year 2018-2019” thats not the FA change right? But when I look under accept/decline financial aid all I see are the three rows: 2017,2018,2019 and they all say award access denied.
Also according to previous years the link to check for the housing change is https://housing.nyu.edu/apply but when I click on it all I see is “No Applications Available”
@goldfishy19 yes, that’s where I’m looking for the FA change. Nothing. No rows, no anything. It just says no financial aid info found. Thanks for the housing link!
@nyuhopeful44 what do you see when you click on the housing link?
@goldfishy19 weird how some people have three rows, whereas others have only 2019. It’s all sort of weird, and I don’t want to assume I’m in or not based on it. Idk I think I’m just over thinking it and scared. Good news is that we have less than a month left until decisions.
@goldfishy19 the housing change apparently doesn’t happen until around a week before decisions come out
I think we’re looking into this too deeply lol.
Heyy
Did anyone receive an invitation for the early decision I candidate weekend?
@excited18 I did not, that’s only for Abu Dahbi right?
Do you think I messed up my chance? I applied to NYU on October 3rd with a complete application. What I mean is that I had my transcripts, SAT score, essay, financial aid, recommendations, and etc, all completed on October 3rd, but I was initially a regular decision applicant, and I was going to stick with regular. But then my friends convinced me to do ED1, but the deadline for ED1 was November 1st, and by the time I made my decision to switch, it was November 10th. So I thought there was no was that they would switch me, but I emailed them anyway, and they switched me to ED1 on November 12. Do you think the late switch could impact my decision?
@goldfishy19 my housing application also says “no applications available.” Idk I hope this is all bullcrap. NYU is my dream school and I think I have an okay shot at getting in, especially with applying ED1. I’d really hate to not get in. Ughhhh. This is so freaking stressful.
@GiannaC3 I’ve never heard of anyone do that before, but if you had all of your stuff turned in before the deadline, I think that all it would do is show that you have increased your interest in the school. Idk.
