*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2020 Discussion*****

@NYUDreamer1 Thanks! No I haven’t taken any sat subject test and I might take the sat again, my act is almost equivalent as I have a 24 composite(I’m not super great at these tests). I do feel I have great recommendations and a really good essay thoUgh. @scoobysnacks56 sorry I’m unfamiliar with LSP, is it a higher chance than CAS to get accepted if I don’t get into stern?

@Wscott23 I think you should apply regular decision. You have a great shot.

@Wscott23 yup! You have a much greater chance of being accepted to LSP than CAS as your backup.

@scoobysnacks56 cool that’s probably what I’ll end Up doing
@Crzcorgi thanks! I will apply for regular decision because I don’t want to be binded in a financial aid deal

@mang0esxx Hey there! Your numbers are on the lower side, but since you have a kickass NYU essay & demonstrated interest in other ways, you have a good chance

I’m applying to Stern

Additional Info: I did a summer program at Cornell University last summer and took AEM (Applied Economics and Management)
I got an A in the class and got a rec. letter from my professor at Cornell <3

*Will apply and need financial aid

@kker98 You chances seem very high to me! Just make sure you have strong essays and rec. letters. You’ll be fine.

@SquadGoals I’m applying to CAS, and I’m not very familiar with the stats you need for Stern, so take this with a grain of salt. The subjective part of your application seems much stronger than your objective part, but I think your course load might compensate your rank/ACT score. I guess it will come down to the admission officer liking your essays. But then again, take this with a grain of salt.

Merry Christmas guys!

Quick question, did anyone apply to Stern or any other school at NYU and ONLY submited three SAT Subject Tests? Or does anyone have any reliable information on accepted students who only sent these? Thanks!

@NYUDreamer1 Thank you very much. But the only thing I’m worried about is economics is a hot major in CAS that I bet many people will apply. Plus I’m asian so I’m always worry about my test scores are not good enough compare to people of my own race :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi all, please chance me for ed2 =) I think I’ll be applying to CAS.

Gender: f
SATs: cr- 630, math- 650, writing - 670 (total=1950)

I’m an international student from Myanmar, go to an international school, and am taking a full IB course there. My predicted scores should be around 36, I guess. My recs and ECs should be fine. I’m working on my essays right now so fingers crossed they’ll be on fleek =P

i’m really new to this forum lol so idk how to edit my post. anyway, these are my ECs.

  • President of Community Service for 3 years
  • Student Council Secretary
  • Varsity tennis captain for 2 years
  • member of Operation Smile -MUN delegate for 2 years

also, my school is relatively small, with only 35 students in the graduating class. Thanks!

can nyu just tell me already so i can stop freaking out?

@ingyin I think for international student, ur scores are a little bit low for CAS because the international students tends to have really high standardized test stats. Maybe you should do LSP for second choice if u really want to go to NYU… I know some one applied for CAS with an IB of 37 ended up being offer to LSP

@kker98 i kinda figured that too. yup, i already chose lsp as my second choice. thanks for your comment!

Hey guys, could anyone chance me please?? I am an international student from Brazil, and I’m applying to CAS ED2.

GPA: School doesn’t provide
SAT Score: 2120 (W 680, M 730, CR 710)
SAT II: German w/ listening 700, Math I 710
Class rank: 11/138 (about 8%)
I can afford full tuition, if that counts for something…

Here in Brazil the workload and ECs are different, so mainly I have:
Tutoring (600hrs)
Piano lessons since I was 8
Tennis
Media/Journalism Club member
Precollege at NYU
German Study Group
Spanish Study Group
English Study Group

Essays and rec. letters - strong

Thank you!!

@mang0esxx your GPA is high than mine (3.2 UW) and your SAT scores are higher as well (2000), but I was accepted to Tisch on full tuition scholarship. Now, the admissions process is a bit difference between Tisch and the other schools, but Steinhardt isn’t nearly as competitive as Stern. If your Why NYU essay is really that good, I’m sure you’ll be fine. (That summer program should also help-- I believe the program I attended was a huge push toward my acceptance.)
