The most confusing thing about this whole situation is that the admissions officers changed the housing statuses on the day that they finished reviewing applications. Something tells me this just can’t be a coincidence, but if it isn’t I have no idea what it means.
I do think NYU should change the housing if people were prematurely completing housing application - the funny thin is even though mine switched back to non renewable for fall it does allow me complete the spring application
So for the majority of us, our housing application says Spring: There is no application for you at this time and Fall: Non-renewable undergrad right?
@SquadGoals yeah, i would say the majority has that.
Another thought just popped up in my head, there’s no way NYU just figured out the housing change theory on CC. It’s been floating around this site for the past two years. So the big question is, if this whole switching thing is because NYU is fixing the system, why do it now?
Now that a couple of students have claimed to still have ‘freshman’, I have arrived to a personal conclusion. After some philosophical thinking hahaha, I am starting to think that those who had freshman before, passed some sort of initial cutoff and now that the 2020 EDII NYU class was officially chosen, a final cutoff was made…
I could be terribly wrong, but I could also be maginificently correct. Anyways, since Feb. 15th is still a week away, so I might as well grasp some sort of distraction… Any tips? I was thinking about reading some Carl Sagan and teleport my mind somewhere deep in the cosmos, far enough to look down on Earth (and this application process) as another grain of salt in such a vast universe lol.
@RSalvatierra For the past month or so, I’ve been reading 1Q84 by Murakami! It’s a ~2000 paged novel, so it keeps me occupied for a super long time, haha.
my question is what would have triggered certain people to get a change to freshman and some did not - 2nd why are there still people with freshman -
if what you’re saying is true @RSalvatierra nyu is being suuuper selective this time around. like harvard level lol
@RSalvatierra I don’t think they could have made a final cutoff in just a day though. The freshmen to non renewable undergrad change occurred today at the same time that they finished reviewing applications.
maybe they have yes pile, borderline and no - yes still has freshman, borderline had freshman but don’t now (maybe there needs to be final sign off and the person sign off decides no), and the no never had change - my stats are not good at all to be honest so for me to get in would be shocking - based on my own stats I am thinking a no - not being down on myself just realistic
Seems interesting, thanks! @myungbi I know it is a bold statement to make, but I just want to start rubbing off the excitement I had before these changes were made so when decision day comes and if I get rejected, I won’t be so harsh on myself.
Fortunately, I have been admitted to Northeastern and UMiami (my older brother graduated two years ago and one is still studying there so that would be sooooo comfortable and fun) and still am waiting on a couple of other schools so I am not thaaaat screwed lol.
My biggest suggestion is:
Stop conjecture based on nothing! Void!
There can be a thousand theories.
Just wait and see what happen in the next few days.
i had no patience before now i REALLY have no patience
Everyone start applying to community college.
I now understand how everyone without housing change before felt.
I’m absolutely freaking out haha
@clkodu98739 What you’re saying could be true if the people who still have freshmen have absolutely amazing stats and are stand-out applicants. However, looking back at older posts there are many people who have even better stats and EC’s who went from freshmen to non renewable. At this very moment, in my opinion, I think the switching back thing is random. Also you have to remember that this switching thing has never happened before, which makes me think it’s probably some glitch.
I felt nothing before. I feel nothing now. What are emotions?
@dehca2016 Emotions are the root of all problems.
