NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2022

Hey guys, hopefully it’s not too early to start a thread, considering ED 2 apps are due in several days.

EDI Applicant here.

  1. Don’t stress, two months’ waiting really isn’t long. Don’t let it ruin your life. NYU is not the only good school, the major you choose is probably not the best neither.
  2. You will receive the activation e-mail within a day or two. If not, call them.
  3. The check list on Albert might not be checked even if them have every thing. Call them, it’s their job.
  4. Try to call them if you have any problem.
  5. FA/Housing Change: From what I’ve seen from this year’s EDI Apps, it seems students who got FA a few days ahead got rejected… Housing change started 30 minutes before decision release, and I believe this is a clear indication of acceptance for 98% of Applicants. But this is not the case ever before (I did notice the same pattern apply for last year’s EDI apps, it might be the case ONLY for ED Apps), so it still might change in the future. Thus if something different happens to EDII/RD apps, don’t stress.
  6. Make sure you really put your heart into research for the specific school/major within NYU. I’ve seen lots of ppl switching from school to school, major to major just because they are not happy with their original choice, which is okay.

^ 5 is not necessarily true. While I didn’t get a housing or FA change and was still admitted, many people got it and were admitted, so in reality, the change may truly have no correlation to acceptance.

I’m applying - fingers crossed for some good results!

Good luck everyone! Just submitted last night and I’m so nervous. Not sure how I’m going to wait until mid February…

Good luck everyone! I am sure you are all very qualified!

@imsiaocong I don’t think #5 is true tho, its pretty random. I got in EDI with no changes (I still don’t even know what the FA change is), but I’d advise all yall doing EDII just to ignore all the hype about the fa/housing changes and just focus on senior year aha

My items have still not been checked off on the Albert Page. Is anyone facing the same issue?

It took about a week for all of my stuff to get checked off

Yes

Hey, guys! God… Days have been eternal! I’m applying to NYU TISCH for Acting BFA Program. I’m so nervous and stressed! I even got sick a couple of days ago. I can’t help myself! I don’t know what to do with my life until February, 15th :(. I know it sounds kind of ridiculous but it’s true. So many days left! Hope we can keep on talking here and sharing our stories, doubts and good news in some weeks more :D.
BTW, I’m an International Student. Do know know if there is any ranking or percentaje for acceptance of International Students?
Greetings from CHILE <3

Still waiting for the nyuad candidate week invite.

Days have been hell here too mate. To add to my distress I got deferred last month from Tisch on the 15th so this has been a 2 month wait. It’s eating me alive.

About 22% of NYU’s student body is international students. So the spaces are gonna be tight for us.

The latest common data set available (2016/17) shows that 17.8% of undergraduates were non-resident aliens

@"-southafri~can_" awful!!! And we still have two weeks of waiting… I’ve been reading a lot in different posts about the “deferring” thing… What is that? I think I don’t have it clear at all!
@lime20002001 Wow… I want to have hope but wow… And that is for all NYU :’(… I think I’ll be crying and dying until the 15th D:
Thanks, guys!

@MakiLunar what they said in my letter and I assume everyone else who got deferred is “Ok, so we see value in your application enough that you’re a decent candidate for our school. However space is tight so we’re accepting the top people only right now. Instead of saying no to your application, we’re going to give you another chance by putting your application in the next decision pool. Hopefully you can stand out more this time. Love NYU xx”

Can someone tell me what ‘FA change’ means?
I’m new to college confidential and I’m clueless as hell.

FA change means financial aid change. Basically, there is a theory that a few days or the day of the decision being released, the status of financial aid will change from “there is no financial aid info. found”. I don’t know enough about it to know if it correlates with acceptance, but the theory is that it does. Several people have said that their FA status did not change and they were still accepted.

i didn’t get a FA status change or anything…

For scholarships like the Deans and MLK one, do we find out about those when we get our decisions? I see people saying March 15th from last year but is that for regular decision?
