NYU Early Decision II

Would anyone here happen to know if the school prefers early decision I applicants over those who apply for early decision II? Due to some poor planning for SAT IIs on my part, I may have to apply for early decision II and it's a little nerve-racking.

Most early decision II candidates are those who have been rejected ED (or single choice EA) elsewhere. You can actually have a higher competitive pool for ED II than ED I because ED II often consists mainly of those whose stats were probably good enough for a school ranked higher than NYU. However, whether it is really harder is something NYU does not reveal.

Nevertheless, I do not understand your issue. NYU does not require SAT subject tests. To meet the test requirement you can now pick any one of the following four options: (a) SAT, OR (b) ACT, OR (c) three SAT subject tests, OR (d) three AP tests. In other words if you are going to rely on SAT subject tests for admission you need three, not two, and you do not have to submit SAT. However, you can choose to just submit the SAT.

Someone I know did ED to Columbia, was rejected, and then was accepted ED2 to NYU CAS. I think she just wanted to be in New York City.

I want to go to NYU because it’s great academically (my sister graduated this year as well) and it’s a good distance away from home.

Also, I know of the new requirements for NYU as far as standardized testing. My parents just want me to have two more SAT IIs under my belt. I think instead of the SAT, I am going to take the ACT in June. Also, I got a 1740 on my SAT from March and from multiple practice tests, it doesn’t seem like my scores will go any higher. I am putting in three teacher recommendations. I also have a decent amount of extracurricular, which also includes my school’s We The People team which I am joining next year. I am also going to send in some drum tracks from my bands EP. Here is a video from a jam I did with another band back in January.
I really hope this is enough.
