The person was basically saying ED forces you to go even if you can’t afford it. That’s just not true
No s/he didn’t, s/he indicated the dilemma by saying “… there’s no guarantee he would get admitted to any of them if we declined NYU”. Clearly well aware they can decline.
you right. my bad. this is why i need to go to therapist and mental illness doctor lol
Son was admitted to CAS in NYC. He is undecided major.
34 ACT
4.1 W gpa
Soph 1 AP, jr 4 AP, sr 4 AP
Life Scout, decent EC’s (leadership and public service type), competitive rock climbing is his sport.
Common app essays were fine, but not unusual. His Why NYU was very well done and likely made a difference.
hey i’m an RD applicant…i was wondering if anyone had the housing portal change where you could apply for housing for the 2020-21 academic year but it classified you as a waitlisted undergraduate- is this a definite waitlisting or should i still hold out hold for an acceptance?
I got accepted ED 2 to Global Liberal Studies and here are my stats:
Asian Female, first-generation immigrant(moved to US from South Korea in 2017)
Didn’t apply for aid
3.7ish UW/ 4.2ish WGPA
1530 SAT
Took 1 AP Sophomore(5), 3 AP Junior(5/5/4) and 5 AP senior(scores tbd)
EC: Internship(district senator, immigrant worker alliance), Speech and Debate, political activism, california YMCA youth and government, no sports(one year of swimming but I was horrible at it and quit)
Why NYU essay was done bit by bit over a span of time but mostly crammed the day it was due, 3 letters of rec from my boss, one teacher I knew well, one I barely knew
Personal Statement was decent and about my identity
NOTE: I got two C’s sophomore year in one AP Class. My GPA is pretty mediocre for being Asian(and being born in the heart of OECD suicide rate #1 among students peninsula). I have more B’s than the number of fingers on my hand. High school was hell for me and I rarely enjoyed it. I’m definitely not the perfect student and I come from an extremely affluent, competitive school stocked with 4.9 GPA/1590 SAT students. The college admissions process is SO SO random and unpredictable, and what matters is your story and your initiative. I know not many people will see this comment but for those who do…growing up in a 100% Asian, grade-oriented environment I thought the world was about to end after I did horribly my sophomore year. I had no clue who I was, what I wanted, what I liked… But you know what? Your numbers don’t define you. They really don’t. What matters is YOU, even if it sounds cheesy. It took SO long for me to dig out even a small piece of my identity and I’m still working on it. Spend time doing what lights you up(for me, that is political activism and social justice) and don’t lie on the apps. Be 100% honest and think about what really matters to you. I handled the college app process largely alone(my parents don’t even know what the Common App is) with some help from teachers and peers who looked over my app and mildly revised the wording/direction. You’ll be fine. Good luck. I mean it.
Did anyone get accepted without the housing year 2020-2021 in their portal?
Does anyone know if the MLK scholarship notification went out?
Has anyone had honors programs mentioned in their acceptance letter? just wondering if I got in or not.
@nobody555 - Usually, no. But these are unusual circumstances. It’s certainly worth sending an email to your AO. Worse case- all they can say is no.
Best case- maybe they’ll say yes! (Especially since those admitted from this site, don’t seem like they’ll be attending.)
@jayrow Hey, I’m confused. Did you mean to tag someone else or to write this in a different forum? I don’t remember posting anything here.
My friends requested a gap year because the NYC situation is bad now . Will you take a gap year for safety and other issues
@chrisbb why are you asking this same question across a number of different colleges? Are you an admitted student at any of them?

Is ED1 acceptance rate higher than ED2? Can’t decide whether to do ED1 or ED2. Would like senior grades and ACT to help application since 9th grade was a somewhat weak year.

2 different NYU AOs told us that if you feel you will have a stronger application in ED2 to wait and use it. No difference in admit rates between the two - from NYU’s perspective , both are equal (equally binding).

omg hii, did you get accepted? I had this same question i am applying in the fall and have been asking everyone this question. I love nutrition, and i was wondering if it was competitive.
