NYU ED Chance!

Hey guys, I am in an awkward position. So, freshmen and sophomore year, I did not do anything and got horrible grades. Junior year, I buckled up and got myself together and got a 1 B. The twist is, that my course load was extremely difficult and my extracurricular activites are very good.

ACT - 34
GPA (UW) 3.3(yea ouch..i know)(2.8-->3.8) 4.5 Weighted
Couse load: I have taken 9 classes each year and 5 AP's 10th grade, and 7 AP's junior year.

EC's: Stock Market Club- Founder and President
Key Club - 3 years
Varsity Tennis - 3 Years
Speech and Debate Club -President (2 years)
Speech and Debate Club- VP (1 year)
Small computer science internship for 1 summer
DECA - 2 years (I won one local tournament)
I am a leader in my religious group: I organize events and conduct events on a weekly basis for 5 years.

Essays: I talk about my change using a clever metaphor. PM me if you would like to know.
Also, I talk about how I know what I want to do and my realization through high school.

My question is simple: Do I have a chance? After I took AP Economics, I fell in love into business. I have liked subjects before and contemplated about studying those in college, but after Economics, it was clear I wanted to go into Business in Finance(hence the club I started). Do I have a shot at these NYU Stern Early Decision?

Thanks Guys! I really appreciate the advice! :)

My last verdict was for NYU CAS RD…

NYU Stern ED: Reach

If you think going to UCs or CSUs (or other schools that do not take in account freshman year) are good backup options, please post your GPA without freshman year… personally I think you stand a better chance for Berkeley Haas (if you can afford it) than NYU Stern, given how freshman year was a disaster for you.

3.3/4 isn’t awful, depending on where you go…upwards trend is better than downwards. Admittedly, I don’t know enough about Stern NYU, I only know about general NYU.

I’ll/We’ll find out just how “bad” it is when I apply there this winter with the same UW AND W GPA. In my chance thread, I got lots of “matches” and “low reaches” for NYU, and my counselors and teachers think that I’d have it down…Your 34 is >>> my 2110 for that matter, and I think you’ve a damn good shot.
Slightly more diverse ECs might help, but I still think you’ll be okay.

Tl;DR: NYU (don’t know about stern) ED: Match, and Low reach Stern. Consider transferring early frosh year if you need time to up your grades some. Good luck!

Chance back? (now that you know some about me, haha)

my GPA goes up ~.1 to a 3.4 without freshmen year. Otherwise its the same regardless. BUMP for more input

BUMP10char

sorry for being annoying but I kinda would appreciate some/ANY comments

Anyone out there? :(

Yes! A really good friend of mine is going to NYU right now (he loves it) and he only had a 3.2 when he graduated. If you show improvement and passion, get good letters of rec, and write a good essay, NYU will recognize that.

was that Stern or just NYU CAS?
