This thread is for NYU Early Decision Round 1 Class of 2020 applicants to discuss the admissions process and chances. Also, once decisions come out they can be discussed here!
Good luck to everyone applying! I’m applying ED for NYU Stern. What about you guys?
I’m applying to Stern also! Pretty worried about how competitive it is. I don’t have particularly strong math scores (29 on ACT math), but have 33 ACT composite. Not sure if this will hurt me…
darn also EDing stern
I submitted my ED admission today.
Anyone know how big the ED1 applicants pool for Stern last year?
From the NYU website on 2015 admission numbers “a record 7,749 students applied for Early Decision admission”. NYU tends to claim there is no benefit in gaining admission from Early options, however on the NYU Admissions blog it says “last year, Early Decision applicants had just a 1% chance higher admit rate than those who applied Regular Decision.”
I’ve found some discrepancy with statements such as: “some of our most selective programs do act more affirmatively for Early Decision candidates so if NYU is, in fact, truly your first choice, applying Early Decision may work to your advantage given the competitive nature of those programs and the clear demonstrated interest signal you are sending to NYU by making a binding commitment with us.”
I know at my school accepted students who applied early have significantly lower statistics on average than the regular pool acceptances… I don’t know if this applies on the whole.
Does anyone know the stats of Stern admits last year?
@rochester123 yup, here they are: https://www.stern.nyu.edu/programs-admissions/undergraduate/stern-advantage/profile
and also EDing stern. Really nervous.
Im applying to Mechanical Engineering. ACT composite of 31 with a 34 in math. Im giving SAT subject tests in Maths 2 Physics and Chemistry. I had a 3.92 GPA. I put Abu Dhabi as my first, China Second and NY third. Do you think i have a chance of getting accepted? I had a good essay and good ECs with many internships.
Thank you, but that is for NYU overall, not Stern specific.
@ Thisishassanali, 90%?
If I am applying to CAS economics, with a ACT score of 34 composite and 750 + in sat 2 physics, math, and us history as well as a gpa of around 3.4 and the most rigorous class-schedule possible, do I have a shot?
@skycolor yeah, absolutely!! I think you’re in!
@rochester123 no, those are specifically for stern
applying CAS with a 2150 SAT, 33 ACT, 4s/5s on 5 AP tests and 3.9 gpa. What are my chances?
@goodvibezz13 I’d be very surprised to see you rejected, which I don’t think will happen! Good luck.
@notryingtohard, Yes. thanks…
My standardized testing is now ticked in Albert. Nothing outstanding left
