Really worried about my GPA (and yes, it was definitely my fault)

@iywang Do you hold a US passport or a Chinese passport, because for international students, I think NYU Admissions is need-aware. I think you’ll definitely get in if money isn’t a problem.

You guys are all applying to Stern which is like insanely hard lol, fortunately I’m going for Tandon which means I don’t have to battle the likes of you guys lol.

Hey everyone. I’m was accepted to Stern last year but deferred, so I will be joining some of you in the class of 2020. I’m currently interning in New York and spend a lot of time on campus. I know how tough the admissions process can be so if anyone has questions, feel free to pm me

Hi all. Did anyone who applied ED1 get a financial aid brochure? Just wondering if they send it to everyone? Anyone ED1 CAS?

@ferrarivettel good to know!I have an American passport as I was born in America, and money isn’t a problem.

@NYUFan101 congratulations on getting in - where do you intern now?

@horselover7 Received the FA brochure 3 days or so ago. I believe it’s sent to everyone who applies.

Anyone here familiar with how the interviews work?

@Ivywang those SAT scores and AP’s are impressiveeee!!!

I’ve had the toughest English teacher read over my essays for both the common app and the additional essays needed in the Tisch application and she said they were great, and I have one excellent rec letters from a teacher and one from my guidance counselor. To finish out the creative portfolio, I’m sending in one of my films based on the short story that won a Scholastic award.

I know that the creative portfolio is subjective to opinion of admissions officers, but otherwise, what do you think of my chances? Like I said, I applied for ED I and NYU is absolutely my top school. I appreciate you taking the time to read and respond. Thank you!

@16eforeman Hey! You’ve got an impressive set of ECs there. Were you even able to fit all of them on Common App? There’s no use listing them here if Admissions won’t see them. For Tisch your SAT scores are not super competitive but I think they might be okay, your GPA seems good but you haven’t taken many APs. Is this because your school does not offer many? If the number you have taken is rigorous at your school then you’re set! I think your biggest hook is going to be that most all of your ECs match Tisch’s arts theme. If your essays portrayed you as someone a little quirky and a little unique then that’ll help you shine out amongst the rest of Tisch applicants! Good luck!! I think you have a 60-70% chance of admission.

@iywang Hey. I’m currently interning at SNL

@iywang You can’t request interviews; they come to you. So unless you get contacted by admissions, you cant ask for an interview, at least thats how I understood it.

By the way, I’m also applying to Stern ED1. Best of Luck!!

Hey everyone, just chiming in. I’ve applied early decision to NYU Steinhardt school of music as a jazz studies performance major. The jazz program is what’s mainly worrying me. If anyone else is applying to the school of music, hit me up, since I still haven’t received my on campus audition date.

@Nottryingtoohard @iywang holy crap yalls stats are amazing!!!

I can’t help but get discouraged when I see everyone’s AMAZING grades and scores, yet you’re still worried. haha!

@natiann123 don’t worry! I remember reading that you were applying to either Steinhardt or CAS, and if so, the acceptance rates for both schools (30-50%) are much higher than Stern’s (<10%). @Nottryingtoohard and I are both applying to Stern.

This wait is absolute torture. Applied ED1 to CAS with a 2080 Sat and 4.00 gpa. Hoping double legacy and ED will help make up for my crappy stats. Fingers crossed!

@Ivywang Stern having a less than 10% acceptance rate is not accurate at all… What is your source? Stern is definitely more challenging than CAS from everything I’ve read, however.

NYU invited for me a Skype Interview. I don’t know if this is a bad thing (they need to know more than what I presented in my CommonApp) or a good thing (a chance to showcase myself more).

This happens to by my 1st college admission interview lol. Freaking out!

@deller123 on many previous threads for NYU admission they cited 10% with a ~ 3% margin of error. I just checked the student body profile for last year and CAS was around 20-25%. The highest reported acceptance rate that I have ever come across for Stern is 15% so I guess you’re right! <10% is off. Sorry

Where is everyone from?
