Essays: 8/10 for both the common app and Why NYU
I wrote about how my attitude toward failure changed by my experience with riding and yoga - I think its good but probably a bit cliche?
For Why NYU, I talked about why I believe I fit the program and why the program fits me. Since CAS is my second choice, I spent another paragraph on how CAS is also a good match for me. In the end, I briefly wrote about the study away program and NYC
Teacher Recommendation: 9/10 for my APUSH teacher’s and 8/10 for my French teacher’s
not sure what they put in the recs, but I loved their classes and worked really hard
Counselor Rec: 9/10 my counselor is really sweet. though it is her first time being an upper school counselor, but I feel she knows me pretty well, especially because she did an interview with me before writing my rec
Additional Rec: N/A
Interview: N/A

Reflection
Strengths: SAT and GPA
Weaknesses: ECs
Why you think you were accepted: My strong SAT and GPA surely have helped. My essays may have helped? idk, because I never really know how to judge my essays, so not sure how good they are… Also, I think the fact I am not solely interested in bussiness (I am actually more interested in politics which I made quite clear in my essay) really set me apart with other Stern applicants
Where else were you accepted: Fordham(the only school I applied to besides NYU)
General Comments: I did get the housing change in the hour before the decision came out, so I believe the housing change still indicates sth, but don’t worry if you don’t have it, coz ppl did get in without it. In addition, fa change should no longer be trusted by now… it’s soooo unreliable

Anyway, it has been an amazing journey with all of u guys on cc! Thanks to everyone!

Good luck to future applicants!

@maltman same happened to me! I applied to clive and got into performance studies!!!

Reflection

Strengths:
What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: talked about me volunteering for alzheimers research
Weaknesses: GPA
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Good recs, Good essay, URM, standardized test scores were ok
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Deferred from Northeastern, still waiting on UMASS
General Comments: I’m happy

Hey guys. Before I was rejected from NYU, I scrolled through the 2020 thread and thought, “Hey. I wish there were more stats from NYU rejects here.” Well, I got rejected, so I’m back here at the 2021 thread for the last time in order to give back to the future NYU applicants (including myself when I apply as a transfer next year)

Decision: Rejected (1. CAS Chem, 2. Gallatin)
SAT: 1300 (700E, 600M)
ACT: 27, did not submit
GPA: 93/100
ECs: Running (half marathons to 5ks, usually top 3 age group…my school didn’t have a track or xc team), Gay-Straight Alliance, Big Sib/Lil Sib, Anti Sexual Harassment Club, Bike Club, High School XC Summer Program
Common App Essay: 8/10 Everyone said it was amazing, but in retrospect I might now have put enough life into it
Why NYU Essay: 7/10 It was unique, but probably not amazing
Counselor Rec: 10/10 We have a great relationship
Teacher Rec 1: 10/10 NYU Professor, I was at the top of the class, so I’m assuming it was very good
Teacher Rec 2: 6/10 11 Grade History Teacher…He offered to write it but he’s sort of lazy and handed it in late…probably wasn’t great

I attend a small public high in NYC
Race: White
Gender: Female

Reflection:
I sincerely thought they would accept me because of the NYU class (it was free through my high school, and it was with NYU college students, not hs students). I think that the reason I was rejected was because my math scores were not high enough for chemistry at NYU. Instead, I should have put my major down as an English type of major or undeclared. I also should have made my second choice LSP instead of Gallatin.

FA Change: I got the second wave, the one that said 2018 a few days before the decision. The FA is bullshit, trust me!

Housing Change: I didn’t get this one. I’m pretty sure that it is legit.

I hope this helps someone out there!

Guys, sorry I guess I am interrupting but i need to ask a question, when i observed all the decisions from past years’ and now , I haven’t seen Tandon school mentioned (just one). I don’t think CAS is same with Tandon. Is it ?

Accepted to Stern. You can just check out my stats here:

Intended Major: Steinhardt MCC

My essays were probably my strengths

Did not get FA change ever, international student who did not apply for FA
Got the Housing Change literally about 2 hours before decisions came out

When I was applying, I was desperately looking stats for NYUAD and found almost nothing. I realize that this is an NYU NY thread but I still want to do the favor to whomever comes after me.

AAA in mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry respectively
[ *] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): school doesn’t do GPA

[ ] Senior Year Course Load: A2 physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology
[ ] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): only minor lol [/list][ b]Subjective:

[ *] Teacher Recommendation: Knows me well enough and as far as I know holds me pretty high fo9-10/10
[ *] Counselor Rec: School director wrote mine and even though she doesn’t know me long or well enough I’d guess it was 8-9/10

[ ] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I got to candidate weekend for the overall application - my diverse background and interests, the fact that I excel in both sciences and arts, showed passion, character and ambition in my essays. After candidate weekend apparently it’s personality that they look at but none of us know what exactly we got in for.
