Thanks @Anurgar. I guess it’s reasonable that FA change isn’t consistent, considering the stats we see are all from College Confidential, and most ppl here are really qualified and actually passionate to get into colleges like NYU, so they got in B/C they were qualified and not just b/c some FA change.

I applied to Steinhardt… but is anyone here applying to Poly? Or knows anyone who applied to Poly

I applied to poly

Does anyone know when Poly officially becomes a part of NYU? Some sites said January 1, 2014 but other also said sometime in September?

I think its officially NYU poly now. Read about it on NYU’s facebook page.

I noticed an FA change around thanksgiving time 20 days prior to the deadline. But you guys shouldn’t worry too much about it, it will drive you insane. I was accepted to Stern.

Hey rogahen, would you mind posting your stats if you don’t mind

As a parent of two NYU students, I think that the FA change thing is very stressful to students and really needs to be fixed by whoever is in charge of these things.

That said, despite denials from admissions, there does seem to be a very strong correlation between getting the financial aid change and being accepted. A previous poster indicated that there does not seem to be a parallel and that several students had seen financial aid changes and then been rejected. From what I can tell there was only one poster who made that claim.

Instead a vast majority have posted over the years that they received the FA change and were later accepted. (Even those who did not apply for aid.)

However, there are also a good number of applicants who did not see any change and were also accepted.

The FA change is done over time. For some, it appears that their acceptance was later than others in the process and was not recorded by the FA office before the decisions email was sent out.

So for those with the change, it is certainly a very positive sign. And for those without the change, it may still happen and you may still get accepted.

Good luck to all!

Uskoolfish couldn’t be more correct. That’s spot on

@NYUHopeful1 Sure, I got into Stern with a 2010 SAT and a 4.9 GPA. I speak 3 languages fluently and have a very strong multicultural background (latino). I have too many e.c.'s to list here but my main ones was basically A LOT of volunteering (locally and abroad), president of amnesty international and International Club at my school, and a ton of athletic activities. I also have a couple of awards from my school/town and was inducted into Spanish Nat. Honor Society and regular Nat. Honor Society. There’s a couple other things I put in my app but that’s pretty much what I consider most important.

what if i didnt apply for FA should something still change?

@rodrigo9 read what Uskoolfish just posted on this thread, even people who didn’t apply for FA, still saw an FA change in their Albert.

Yikes, just creeped through this whole thread and it seems like a majority are stern and tisch?

I recently got deferred from nu. And nyu is definitely my top second choice, so I applied ed ii. I would have to say maybe my weakest spot would be my supplement…when I reread it, I noticed I talked more about what I actually wanted to do/passions (journalism) rather than explaining more about how nyu could help me grow. ): also since it isn’t like other colleges (closed-campus) it was hard to talk about any particular “unique” traditions per say, and I ended up talking a lot more about the city and mentioning nyu programs.

Honestly wishing each and everyone of you the best of luck the waiting period is always the most grueling part.

@Kxtreme16 i know how u feel! When i reread my supplement i realized that i didnt talk enough about why i chose my major. Oh well. Come february 15 , we’ll all know.

February 14th**

And don’t worry about that. The supplemental was meant to help them get a sense of whether or not you would be able to adjust to the NYU campus because it’s not traditional. Atleast that’s what I think

I know that we have this huge FA change debate about whether it means acceptance, but does the FA change at least mean that the admissions office is done reviewing your application, and has already made a decision (whether it be acceptance or denial)?

I think that the financial aid change comes because a decision has been made by admissions to accept a student and the financial aid department is notified. They then prepare your financial aid package based on what financial data they have from you. If you do not apply for aid–or if you do not qualify–they still prepare a package that offers loans. (Which is why students who do not apply for aid still see the “change.”)

Obviously it would not make sense to calculate a financial aid package for students that are not being accepted. (Waste of time, money and peoplepower.) Especially since NYU’s financial aid reflects how much they want you to attend.

@uskoolfish ah, gotcha. thanks.

how long did it take the admissions office to waive the application fee? cause i sent my free waiver last week and the application fee box still isn’t checked
