Can you guys also walk us through the process of getting to the available courses you guys saw earlier? o.O

People have got accepted without an FA change right? And also, for the few of you who are able to use your NYu emails, when you log into NYUhome and select the preference tab in the top right, is there something under NYUhome email?

Yeah, mine says āunavailableā

@sternhopeful2018 Yes, people have gotten in with no FA change, donāt sweat it.

Can someone find a reliable poster (aka not a ā ā ā ā ā ) from a previous thread who has gotten rejected after the financial aid change though ?

@chances1please Are you putting in your NYU ID with @nyu.edu at the end when youāre logging into the NYU Home? Iām really confused whatās going on

i second @stjohnson 's post. and that also ed.

@stjohnson You make the call, Look in NYU(NY) ED1 2018 Discussion, PAGE 110

This user, Spongebob123 "i got rejected from stern, with an fa change. good luck everyone! "

And also PAGE 113 user āalexjw596ā, his response is a bit lengthy.

And I donāt know about the alex user, but the sponge user seemed like a reliable poster to me.

spongebob123 had mad good stats tooā¦ ughh

Darn. Outonalimb was right.Luckily, Spongebob123 wasnāt exactly an outstanding applicant where his decision was a jaw-drop.

His weighted GPA is a 3.75, senior year GPA of 4.32, which means his school uses a system out of 4.4, 4.5, or even 5.0 -> 3.75 is really low. He had a good sat of 2260, and solid subject test scores: 710 math II and 700 USH

In general, his numerical stats are decently good, but Stern is really hard so I guess its not too surprising that he got rejected.

On top of that, I noticed he was even deferred from Michigan LSA Early Action, which has an acceptance rate of about 40%, so even though his stats definitely would have qualified him for Michigan, there was likely other problems with his application to Stern and Michigan as well, such as bad essays, recommendations, a lack of activites ā¦ maybe all threeā¦ maybe a disciplinary record? Lol

And Alex seemed like he was a foreign applicant who had some difficulty expressing his English, so maybe he wasnāt the greatest applicant either. But either way, I guess there are exceptionsā¦ now Iām getting really worried!

I think weāre over thinking it. The FA change is probably the only factor that has a strong enough correlation to have any significance in predicting our admission decisions. Though, as a couple people have pointed out, it seems as though itās not true for EVERYONE, it is true for most.

Itās funny to think that just one week ago, everyone was so sure and confident in the FA change theory.

Well the fa change according to the NYU website says that basically they reviewed out fa application. So people without them, it means they just havenāt reviewed your fa yet. But also, if you did get it, that means they did review your fa, so if you werenāt going to get accepted, they probably wouldnāt have had the fa office review your application. But also the fa office may not have gotten to your application yet, so that may explain why some people that got accepted didnāt receive the fa change because their fa was simply just reviewed late. This is just a theory tho, and explains some stuff except the people that received the fa change but were still rejected. Maybe if they were both international students then that may be an exception. But Iām also considered an international because Iām here through a visa so that would not be good for me :(

screw thisā¦

@nyuhopeful1 i think your theory or explanation to it is pretty spot onā¦

@nyuhopeful1 I also donāt think you should worry because im pretty sure that they do international FAās lastā¦

yeaā¦ im still trying to understand why they would review the fa and then reject you.

I already got my fa change but the people that got rejected with the fa change kind of scare me. Well exactly. Maybe the other 2 believed they had the change but werenāt really sure on what it liked like so got confused. Doubt it but may be an explanation

@nyuhopeful1 i apologizeā¦ there are like 3 āhopefulsā on hereā¦ i get confused :P

Haha now I regret not making a unique name
