NYU ED II Financial Aid

I'm thinking about applying to NYU ED II because it would increase my chances and NYU is my #1 school. My family technically makes a lot of money, but because of our debt and lack of college funds financial aid is important. NYU states that you can back out of your ED contract if the financial aid isn't enough.
Got a few questions:
1. When NYU sends an estimate financial package for ED, can I use that to say that there isn't enough financial aid and back out of ED?
2. If I can't get enough financial aid and want to back out before I withdraw all my other applications, will NYU release any notice to other colleges that will hurt my chances?\
3. Will NYU be willing to increase its financial aid if my parents can prove that our income is a fluke because of our current situation?

Thanks

can anyone answer this question? i’d like to know too

My thought on this is.

If you can’t afford to pay it for sure, I would not reccomend applying ED 2. I know that it is your top choice, but if your family technically makse a lot of money, they are not going to offer you a lot of financial aid. They are already very stingy with FA.

NYU will not release the fact that you withdrew as far as i know, but every other school on the CA can see that you h ave applied ED to NYU and it can hurt your chances there.

And finally, that really comes down to personal situation and luck. If you manage to convince them, who knows?

But overall, I would not reccoment ED2 if you know you are lacking financially, and you also know that your families income is a little too high to qualify.
