NYU ED II. (Will chance back)

Hi,

I recently applied to Barnard University ED and got rejected. I am now shifting my focus to NYU, which is another of my top choices. Because NYU has an ED II option that is the same as the RD deadline, I am choosing ED to either the Liberal Studies school or the Arts and Colleges school.

The liberal studies school is much less competitive, but I feel like ACS is more geared towards my interests.

Can you "chance" me? I would like to know if I have a fair chance.

My common essay is pretty good and well written. I chose the environment topic but wrote is as a "metaphorical" place. I wrote it originally for a liberal arts school for Barnard, but my counselor assured me that NYU doesn't stress the essay too much and I dont need to change it.

My rec's are solid; my english and art teacher are writing them. My guidance counselor also probably wrote a good one.

My EC's are a little weak however. I don't have any positions of "leadership" really
-Volunteer Teacher in a religious institution. I volunteered there for all 4 years of high school and spent about 8 hours a week.
-I volunteered at a tutoring center in my junior year and was then offered a job position which i still have today. I work also about 8 hours per week.
-I am in the debate club in my high school and have been for 4 years. I won a long island competition, and placed 2nd.
-I am in Blue Key Club, a club that promotes breast cancer awareness. I participate in club walks, charity events, and donations to raise awareness. I have been in this sclub for 3 years.
-Yearbook club. I have been in this club for 2 years.
-I volunteered in a medical office in the summers of 10th, 11th and 12th grade. I interacted with patients, taking appointments and collecting medical history.
-I worked as an intern in the emergency room of a community hospital. I observed the way doctors interacted with patients, and hospital procedures.I was there for about 10 hours a week during my summers.

That's pretty much my application. I feel like my stats match NYU, but i'm worried that i will get rejected yet again. I still am torn between which school to apply to, and I'm hoping any of you can help me out?

I would say low reach to high match. Really depends on which major you’re applying to though. Good luck!

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1589963-chance-me-bowdoin-ed2-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

You have a pretty solid chance, but your gpa is a little low (close to their average, if im not mistaken) that being said, your course load is very rigorous, and they will definitely appreciate that. Your ec’s are fine for nyu… just apply to the school you’d be happy to attend.

You have a really good chance due to your grades, but your SAT is on the low side for Stern.

Chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1589927-chance-me-nyu-stern-ed2-will-chance-back-leave-links.html</a></p>

Your chance look good grade and score wise. A few sports and more ECS would look good
Chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1591121-will-chance-back-if-you-chance.html#post16709316</a></p>

I’d say you have a really good chance. I know someone who just got in with lower stats than you so I wouldn’t worry too much.

I’m pretty sure you’ll get in, but it’s a crapshoot nowadays. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1586584-chance-me-some-schools.html</a></p>

I agree you have a pretty solid chance. I was accepted to NYU last year with a lower SAT (2080) and lower GPA (3.9). That being said… with the more competitive schools it’s never guaranteed for anyone but you definitely have a very solid chance!

I think I’m applying to CAS but am going to mention my interest in the liberal studies school in my essay. Does anyone know how much NYU stresses essays?

[New York University Admissions Information - CollegeData College Profile](http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=436)

That site might answer your question about NYU and how it views essays! My personal experience makes me believe that the essay component will be really important in your application because it’s where you can really show who you are other than grades.

Everything looks excellent. As mentioned above, your GPA is a little bit low but not to worry, your classes and test scores clearly make up for that. All around I say you have a great chance of getting in!
Best of luck!!
***Please Chance Back

Also, someone mentioned to me how my course rigor is unbalanced since I only took one ap junior year and loaded up on them this year. Does that make a different really, as long as I end up with a decent number of ap classes?
