@cytokinesis yay congrats!! can I ask what you did in your gap year bc NYU is my dream school but my gpa and sat is below their average. thank you so much and congrats again !!!
Accepted: Steinhardt Studio Art
GPA: 4.0 UW/ 4.2 W
Test scores: Sent AP’s. 5 in Calc BC, 5 in Bio, 5 in Lang, 5 in Psych
Portfolio: pretty mediocre not gonna lie. My high school didn’t offer art classes so I never got a formal art education. But I talked about that in my essays & it shows in my transcript that I’m telling the truth.
Hey guys, didn’t get accepted but I did get deferred to regular decision !! I’ve literally been looking everywhere to see if anyone else got deferred, but I haven’t found anyone else that has. Don’t really know if being deferred is necessarily a good thing, but at least I wasn’t rejected, I still have a shot
@booknerd00 Honestly I didn’t do much over my gap year! I think mostly what helped was going from RD to ED and the fact that my application this year was a lot better. Last year I didn’t send a teacher rec letter, sent my midyear reports super late, and talked about a double major that NYU doesn’t allow in my why NYU essay. It’s impressive I even got waitlisted :’)
As for during my gap year, I worked, volunteered at a soup kitchen, and also worked a bit at an art related job (I’d be more specific but I’d rather not have all my identifiable life information on the internet).
Since you’re worried about your low stats, if you get waitlisted/do a gap year I’d recommend retaking your SAT or sending a different test score. Last year I sent my SAT but this year I sent AP’s. Also if you finish senior year strong that’ll boost your GPA.
Hey @Snowz678 - very sorry today wasn’t good news but you’ve got really good stats and you’re sure to get in somewhere great! My oldest D got denied at her ED I school and was devastated, felt like she was a failure. Ended up even happier at literally the first school that admitted her in January and now is graduated with an amazing resume and a dream career. Don’t take the ED “no” too hard, just get out there and find that great fit school.
Hey can someone who got some aid or scholarship confirm the method in which they were informed about it. Was it written on your acceptance letter or you got a separate email after you received your acceptance letter?
