NYU ED l 2024

I got my NYU portal login, now I’m just waiting for my FAFSA and CSS profile to update on it!

But how much do you think our chances will increase by? @shearlytarable

I definitely can’t give a percent, but as someone mentioned before, NYU enrolls about 6,500 freshmen every year, and more than half of these freshmen are from ED rounds. A little bit of research states that the ED admit rate is usually about 10% higher than the RD admit rate.

Also, I can finally see that my CSS was received after sending it September 29. FAFSA is still “awaiting.”

@lifebreath Thank you so much, dude! I was trying to find stats for the number of ed1 applicants for 2018 and couldn’t. The chances are slightly better than I thought then, I guess.

Do you think the acceptance rate will still be really low for ed1 since the acceptance rate for regular decision last year was 19%.

It won’t be any lower than RD rates.

@Dancer2468 overall admit rate last year was 16%, so RD admit rate could not have been 19%. With ED being much higher, RD must have been much lower, my quick calc has it around 13%. (Around 84k total applicants of which around 70k RD, approx 9k offers to RD. Numbers won’t be exact but should be ballpark.)

Well, it’s 100% for those accepted, so there’s that! In any case, some percentage of ED applicants are simply unqualified. For the sake of discussion, lets say it’s an arbitrary 25%, which is not unreasonable. That knocks the pool down to 10,500 (using last year’s numbers). Then, 4180/10500 = 40%. So, a 40% acceptance for qualified students. That’s almost 1 in 2.

Good luck!

Wow, thank you for all of the useful information! @lifebreath

any SPS applicants?

I’m applying to CAS and I saw a stat on NYU’s website that said CAS’s acceptance rate last year was 9%…

I’m also worried because I’m homeschooled and I have no idea if that will hurt my chances.

@CoffeeandTea22 hope you get in! but this is ED so there is a lot more chance.

I really hope so!

Good luck!! @CoffeeandTea22

How long did it take for your CSS profile to show on the NYU portal?

and/or fafsa^

It took mine a month for CSS. FAFSA still hasn’t shown up, also submitted a month ago.

My CSS Profile took about 2 weeks to show on the NYU portal and the FAFSA is not on the portal yet. It says that the status for the FAFSA should update in mid-December. @alliwon
