NYU ED l 2024

ah okay, tysm!

Of course! @alliwon

Thank you! You too! @Dancer2468

Where else are y’all applying to?

GWU, UF, UVA, and a couple more in-state schools. wbu?

I’m holding off on sending other applications until I know about NYU so I can save my fee waivers, and if I get into NYU, I’m going no matter what (and I wouldn’t mind going to the only school I apply to). But if I don’t get in, I’ll apply to Fordham, BU, GWU, UNC-Chapel Hill, and probably a few others for RD.

same, i’m holding off to apply to the rest and NYU is my top choice. i hope we both get in!!

It’d be great to be able to go to NYU saying we only applied to one school and enrolled :))

we can also say we got accepted into every school we applied to!!

can you get waitlised in ED process?

I’m also applying to Fordham, UPenn, and a couple of in-state schools. Yes, you can get waitlisted in the ED process. @MrDiaz

So does NYU do rolling decisions for ED or are they all sent out on one day? I NEED TO KNOWWWW!!!

I don’t believe you can get waitlisted directly from ED, but you can be deferred to either ED2 or RD. There are 4 possible outcomes from ED:

  1. admit to primary choice - binding
  2. admit to alternate choice - non-binding (but still need to decide by the usual ED deposit deadline)
  3. deny
  4. deferred to later round, either ED2 or RD. It is still possible to get put on the waitlist from the RD round

If you look at last year’s thread, some people that applied through Early Decision 1 got put directly on the waitlist. @SJ2727

People said that it was the first time NYU put some applicants on the waitlist directly when applying Early Decision 1 and 2 last year.

All sent out on one day, by December 15. NYU will email us if the date is pushed forward.

Hi. I applied ED1, my teachers and counselors wanted me to apply to MIT but I always had this notion that my portfolio was not good enough. So I thought why not apply NYUAD. I still think my chances are slim but let’s see what this community thinks. It’s always fun and insightful to look at other people’s stats so here are mine:

5As 2As 2Bs Olevels
4As AS levels in Maths, Chem, Physics, CS.
On track with predicted grade of A
in further maths A2, with A*s in the rest.

A Levels High Expectation of 5A*s

Expected score of 800 on both math and physics but I am not sending those because the decision will be made before score release.

Founder and Executive Head of the only youth organisation that is working to build climate change movement in my country and holds official partnership with governments flagship initiative to plant 10 Billion Trees. Collected over a 1000 dollars of collaborations from private firms. Spearheaded 5 major projects under this and hoping to take this global at NYUAD.

Executed the largest cycling rally for climate awareness in my city. Managed all logistics and operations.

Leader of 4 Robotics Teams from my school that competed against all “universities” from my country at National Engineering and Robotics Competition.

Started NEBRA Labs that I hope to make the largest research centers in the world. I’m currently executing project Mooba under it, which is a dynamic and robust robotics platform. Executed Project Atom: autonomous maze navigator. Project Greequa: Hydroponics Miniturized Simulation. More coming.

Winner at Thermodynamics Competition and held national third against colleges 20 colleges

Held 3rd national in Aircraft design competition against 7 universities.

Conducted a Research on Artificial Neural Networks and built a CCTV based policing system to pin pick criminals from haystack. Currently in use at a software park for attendance registration.

For leisure built computer clusters at home and involved my self in ethical hackers group.

Founder of robotics club at my school.

Participated in International Model United Nations Twice.

Yes I’ve lived in South Korea for two years of my life and I speak 4 languages and I have command of writing in 2.

This is just a sneak peak. I had to 600 words additional info to describe my other activities.

I have strong recommendations from my counselor, physics and mathematics teachers.

Please tell me if these stats are good enough for NYUAD. I really wanna be there to be at forefront with change makers. Rejection and fall back has always fueled me. On realistic grounds, what’s this application like.

@Dancer2468 ah yes, I remember now. I seem to recall almost all of those waitlists were Stern applicants, maybe one or two to Steinhardt. NYU has not updated the portion of its website where it explains the ED outcomes to include waitlist as an option https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/high-school-counselors/decision-information.html

(Posting this cause it might help ease some of your nerves
) But don’t stress if you’re GPA and SAT/ACT scores aren’t that high, NYU cares a lot more about the “flavor” of the applicant. I got in last year with a very cookie-cutter application, but when I asked a lot of other people here what their application looked like I saw that a great deal of them had even lower stats than mine but they also had “quirky”/“different” experiences. So 1 really unique thing they did was just as good as the 20+ activities I wrote down. The only school, I will say, that doesn’t do admissions like this is Stern, they wan’t a certain “type” of person.I even see this when I talk to the CAS, Tisch, (even Tandon) kids they’re very chill and laid back, but when youre in the dining hall the stern kids are always saying every two seconds “I have this idea for a start-up”
Yeah but that’s my two cents.

Thank you for sharing!! How do you like NYU so far? @LapisLazumarril
