NYU ED1 Discussion Thread

Now that my app is finalized, anybody care to chance me for CAS? I haven’t even submitted my app yet but absolutely cannot stop worrying about being declined. Ugh.

3.58 UW GPA (school doesn’t weight GPAs)
2170 SAT (800 W/700 CR/670 M)
APs: Gov (3… not sending), Spanish Lang, Lang/Comp, Euro, Environmental Science
ECs: Editor-in-Chief of school newspaper, NHS member, Spanish Honor Society member, GSA member, Key club member… few other things that aren’t very important

Lol, you’re definitely in. There have been 2050/3.3 that got in, you’re average GPA and above average SAT, plus ED. 99% in.

Yeah, I’m sure those people had far better ECs and more rigorous course loads than I do, though (or had some significant hooks).

I can always count on you to boost my self esteem sarora haha :)

Man, you worry too much.

Just write good essays. I should be the one worrying :P.

Btw, those people were not much better…CAS ED is not difficult with your stats.

Hey sarora, you’re applying ED to Stern?

Yes I am - ED2

Good luck. I am applying ED1, but then again I am so nervous about not getting in, even though I have pretty good stats. If I don’t get in, I’m going to be screwed for regular decision because I’m doing so bad this year. =(

Noldi, I’m seriously in the same position. Last year’s GPA of a 3.9 has dropped to a 3.2. I NEED to get in ED because most of my regular decision schools are going to decline mine.

Hah…I’m the opposite.

My GPA:

2.6 - 9th
3.3 - 10th
~3.5. - 11th
4.0 - 12th

I think you’ll get in Noldi.

Ouch. I definitely think the best course of action for you sarora is ED2 so they can see your improvement. Are your SATs and EC’s up to par at least?

and yeah Elj. I’m currently working on a 65 in AP Calc (which I’m trying to drop once I get a doctor’s note hopefully) and a 75 in AP Eco. ;_;

@Noldi - yeah…my father died before 9th grade. I had a responsibility for my family – we had no family here, I’m first gen. My mom had two surgeries. And while she was recovering, I had a health issue and I was hospitalized for a day. (both in hospital) I missed 20 days 9th and 15-20 10th. Grades dropped from straight 97% in H Alg, H Geom in middle school to flat out Cs.

I own a five figure registered corporation, though, and employ several people. I manage all my corporate finance. Also, I invest in the stock market adequately.

SAT is avg for Stern.

Well, I own a seven figure registered corporation and I employ hundreds of peopl— jk
Nahh but my brother and I are making a website to generate revenue through advertizing so I guess that’s my hands-on business extracurricular. :P

What were your SAT scores btw? I’m afraid my CR is low, 650. My math and writing are alright though - 710, 750, respectively. So, 2110.

2100 - 720, 680 M and CR respectively

ED I for CAS Economics

GPA: 3.64 Weighted (my school only does weighted; no ranks)
SAT I: 2230, 1500/1600 (780 CR/720 M)
SAT II: US History 740, Bio 700, Math IIc 730, Chem 640
APs: US History 4, Eng Lang 5, Calc AB 3, Chem 3

Sooooo my GPA really blows. Probably like a 3.2-3.3 unweighted.

thanks guysssss

Does anyone know if Stern requires you to take Calc in high school? I’ve finished up to Trigonometry Honors. Is that enough or will they require you to take a calculus course? I’m trying to drop my AP Calc course because I’m failing miserably.

No they don’t. You start with Calc I (or II or III but 95% take Calc I since business isn’t super math intense).

3-4 yrs of math. Have you taken precalc?

dleif - CAS is a low reach or high match ED.

Nope, I haven’t taken precalc.

I’m concerned because I saw this link: [Stern Special Program Requirements](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

Is trigonometry honors considered the same as precalc?

also another question; where do we mail our letters or recommendation to? Like the exact address.

Mail letters of recommendation go to this address: 665 Broadway, 11th Floor
New York, NY 10012. The “Contact Us” page is also always a few clicks away: [Contact Us](Contact Us)

Bah, screw it. I’m just going to suck it up and go to tutoring. Time to go pro-mode. Thanks azhong.
