Um, if you’re in AP calc doesn’t that mean you’ve already taken precalc?

I already sent in my app, so I should ask for your thoughts on how bad I’m going to feel when I’m rejected.
GPA: 3.5 (w, but my school doesn’t release class rank or uw scores)
Act: 30 (31 superscored, nyu says they super score it)

Ecs: trap shooting (4 years with a varsity letter), a ton of service hours, campus ministry advisory board (tech committee and liturgy committee 2 years), NYU summer precollege (3.7 GPA in both classes, intro to programming and national security), Stanford model un (this November) and part of a student panel for a local information technology in the workplace conference.

I’m applying ed1 to stern as an IT major.
I’m terrified to see the results…
Oh and if it matters I live in Nebraska (regional diversity? Lol)

780 Math
640 CR
650 Writing

still 3.2 UW, 3.35 W, still Asian, still have backing with swimming. Anyone got an idea of chances? CAS econ+comp sci

Anyone wanna help me out? Dying of anxiety…

Your GPA is low but your SAT might outshine it. I’m not 100% on this but I don’t think NYU recruits for sports. I think you have a decent chance.

Thanks for the info, and they do not actively recruit, i.e athletes can’t sign letter of intent and automatically get in, but they can get preference

@ ion

I don’t really wanna argue that much, however unless you were specifically told by a NYU rep that they take preference for athletes I wouldn’t count on that because its division 3 and especially at NYU, sports aren’t that important.

I’m sorry if I came off as aggressive, just wanted to state what the coach told me. He said they do have a good amount of sway over most schools, however the only one they have absolutely no word over is Stern

Submitted my application yesterday! I hope tomorrow is December 15th! :)

Applying to NYU Steinhardt: Media, Culture, Communication

i want to do their Business & Political econ major…am i on track to get in?

Yes.

But you do realize that while they only “require” precalc, but applicants have taken BC and/or Statistics… as well as other advanced math courses.

-x-

I will gladly field any questions you guys have for CAS - MAP, general questions, class sizes, anything. (Feel free to send a message if you are not comfortable posting on the forums.)

@darkk520 I ED’d for the same major
Good luck to us!

“If you are a freshman applicant, would you be interested in being considered for admission to the alternate portal campus as well?”
“Please indicate if you are interested in spending your freshman year at any of our global academic centers and rank order your choices (1-4) below:”

will saying no to these questions hurt our chances?

um, i would hope not. i said no to both… i want to go to NYU in NYC, not in Abu Dhabi or anywhere else.

@nyjetsknicks: i hope we’ll see each other this coming fall! good luck!

Those are optional questions that are mainly geared to students who want NYU AD first then NYU in New York.

Keep in mind that NYUAD has a 2% acceptance rate…in comparison Harvard has a 7. So you’re not going to get into NYUAD and not NYU in New York anyway, at least academically.

Just submitted my application for ED 1 to Steinhardt’s MCC seems like a popular program

@hanlier2 hope we can all get in and see each other soon with @nyjetsknicks! :)

Could anyone please chance me for stern ED…

EC’s
Founder and Head of Math Tutoring club.
Spent 2 weeks in the summer at a center for autistic adults where i helped them learn arts and crafts skills so they could have employment opportunities. It also inspired me to initiate the Best Buddies Organization at my school, to share my experience and i am also the Leader.
Leader of the world food program fun fair.
Member of Prefect Board
member of U19 varsity football team at the age of 16.
1 month internship at the exlcusive distributor for philip morris products in the U.A.E.
UK delegate at The Hague International Model United Nations, was selected out of 100 applicants.
Senior editor of press club for my school’s MUN.

My teacher and counsellor recommendations should be excellent.
Also my school consistently sends students to Ivie’s. Its just 5-6 years old but over the past 3 years, my school has sent 4 students to Upenn, 1 to Yale, 3-4 have been accepted at Stern with 2 currently studying there. Our senior year sizes are always less than 100 but not everyone applies to the top schools, usually just 6-7 apply to the best. But this year around 11-12 are applying early to top schools.

Thanks a lot in advance

Good chance

@darkk520 it would be awesome if we all got accepted!
