So how did it work when people I know applied to NYU and sent 3 AP scores instead of SATIIs? Did they just self-report? I know I had to send in my SATIIs.

Of course, they aren’t required (bad wording on my behalf), but why would they consider them if they aren’t official? SATIIs, SATs, GPA, all had to be official. Why wouldn’t APs?

I’m not complaining about the service fees. But to add to that: NYU has health insurance in addition to the registration fees. However, you can easily waive the health insurance (like 1.4K a year) if you have private health insurance that meets certain stipulations.

NYU has a very unique testing policy. You can submit 3 applicable (one English based, math, and one of your choice) AP scores INSTEAD
of the SAT. So now this becomes a vital part of your application, as you don’t send in any other exams. That being said, they have to be official, as does SAT and ACT score reports.

On the other hand, 99.999% of colleges (I think only NYU accepts 3 APs in lieu of SAT or ACT), the AP exam is not a factor in admissions, sure, they may seem nice, but self reporting is more than fine. It would be a waste because they require other standardized tests and do not use the AP tests for admission like NYU potentially does. Once you are taking a factor of admission into place, they need to be official reports, since it counts a lot.

The health services on campus are available to students whether they pay for health insurance privately or not. You have to make sure you don’t pay the additional $600 per semester that automatically shows up on your bill if you are already covered. But, regardless, can use the campus health facilities. And make sure you also use the gym facilities. I consider that part of what I’m paying for as well.

Depends, SH has a communications major which is both business and artistic related. Tisch is really all drama, acting and Stern is business to the max. I’d say you seem to love acting, so Tisch may be a better fit. If you actually like business and also have a passion for acting/drama, a SH major may seem fitting. But Tisch is a very good school, one of the ones that NYU is known for, and your ECs fit that well.

Actually, on this whole AP thing, I emailed the Stern representative for my region and she told me that if you want your AP scores to be considered during the process, send them in. If not however, don’t.

Quote: “Please do submit any AP scores you already have with your application if you would like for them to be considered for review.”

What did your email say? Did it start with “Thank you for submitting your application for admission to New York University. We look forward to reading about you. All of our communications will be sent to you by email – including your decision letter – so be sure to open any emails we send you.” or were we supposed to get a different email?
