NYU ED2 2019 Discussion/Decision Thread

Should I do ed2 if I’m worried about the money/financial aid?

Probably not. NYU doesn’t give a lot of aid so it’s better if you apply RD and have options.

if I apply Ed but my financial aid is bad how hard is it to back out. Like do I have to call them or can I just decline online. Don’t want to wait until April to find out lol

FOR ALL ED agreements ( this is universal) if THE FA package doesn’t meet your family’s need, when i say this i mean like there’s no possible way you could pay for it, not that you don’t want to pay that much but actually CAN’t pAY for it, then the ED agreement gets rescinded and you don’t have to go. but that’s the ONLY case.

wait ED2 does not increase your chances whatsoever?

Just applied ED2 January 1st. I had made a thread for ED2 applicants without having found this one! Good luck everyone, hope to see you at Candidate Weekend!

@boogapenguin I think it actually does. I read somewhere that while the acceptance rate for ED/EDII is similar to that of RD, the stats of accepted students are significantly lower. So I guess the applicant pool must be less competitive than RD, contrary to popular belief. I think this is fair and reasonable as those who apply ED REALLY want to be there, whereas many of those who apply RD might see NYU as just an alternative.

I applied ED II to LSP because I felt my essays and overall profile were not good enough by the ED I deadline. I am feeling confident despite my low (for NYU) SAT scores. Anyone know what the middle 50 is for LSP specifically?

Good luck everyone!

@boogapenguin‌ I applied ED2 after fighting with my parents for a while to do so. I wanted to but they never agreed until it was past November 1st. NYU Stern is the dream and I really hope we get what we want  I think for SAT, if youre above 2000 you should have a good chance for all the schools except Stern.

@saus2019 I was under the impression that ED stats are higher than RD?
I certainly hope you’re right though, because that tilts ED 2 in our favour

@Shystarryskies nope ED stats are def lower than RD. At my HS the average RD for last years class is 91.13 while for
ED it was like a 89.5. We got this!

Has anyone received their acknowledgement letter yet? That NYU received your application?

I’ve got mine. I submitted my app on the 26th and got it on the 31st.

anyone else here applying to Stern?

I got a FA email but no confirmation email… ???

@BarrelBlaster‌ I think they send the FA email to all students… Dont worry about your confirmation email, it’s only been a week, and NYU usually takes more than that.
Dont worry guys

Has anyone gotten an interview email from Shanghai yet?

I’ve gotten the FA email, still no application acknowledgement e-mail. I did hear of someone who contacted was admissions and they personally gave her her NYU ID through email because she posted on the admissions website of some sort. It has been about a week and three days since I submitted and someone who submitted later than I did received the email already.

I’m applying ED2 for economics, but does anyone know how good their language courses are? I intend on minoring in Russian, but i’m not very good right now so i would need to start from the very bottom.

I haven’t gotten my ID yet either! So I don’t think you should worry @Braveink‌. I think we’ll be fine. If I don’t get it over the weekend I’m calling on monday.

@Braveink‌ I just got my email!! Check to see if you did too!

I got my email last night!
