I am applying to Gallatin EDII! I am overly nervous to submit my application. I am up right now making sure everything is perfect. I expect a denial, however.

Why do you expect a denial?

does ED II help chances?

Hey everyone,

I’m applying E.D. II to NYU Tisch’s Undergrad Department of Dramatic Writing for the class of 2017. I really, really am dead set on going to NYU. I really hope I get in, because I worked extremely hard on my application. Just finally submitted my portfolio so my application process is finished. Anyone mind chancing me?

SAT:
Composite: 2100. CR: 760, Math: 580, Writing: 760

ACT:
Composite: 31. English: 34, Math: 27, Reading: 33, Science: 31, Writing: 10

AP: I took 5 AP classes last year, which was the maximum amount I could take. I’m taking 4 additional this year.
Scores: 5 on APUSH, 5 on AP Lang and Comp, 5 on Human Geography, 4 on Stats, and 4 on Comparative Government.

My GPA is 3.75 unweighted, 4.48 weighted. I’m ranked 43 in a competitive class of 352. Several top students from my class have already been accepted into Ivy League schools.
I’m the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, attended NC Governor’s School, and have good clubs. My community service is decent but not as strong as it could be. I have really strong recommendations. I’m fairly sure I my essays are also strong.

I’m applying to Dramatic Writing, which has an extensive portfolio requirement with three samples totaling 15-25 pages. I submitted 23 pages of writing samples, and they’re all solid. I’ve heard the Tisch application is more portfolio-based, which should benefit me.

Just giving this thread a little bump since EDII applications were due today…and I just submitted mine lol.

My stats are not as comparable to other applicants! I am hoping my essays will get me through. I worked hard on them for months and, honestly, I think I did well on them! But again, my stats aren’t great, unfortunately.

Hi, I submitted my app 2 days ago, still didn’t get my ED agreement from GC in though. Would that effect my admission?

I applied to Stern for finance and economics and I’m really anxious. I think my chances are rather low because I only have a 3.6 UW/3.84 W and 1410/1990 SAT. The only hooks I have is first gen college student and going to a top 20 high school but I also have the disadvantage of being Asian lol. I think I wrote pretty decent essays (but I might be wrong since I wouldn’t consider myself a good writer) and have decent recs and ecs but I’m not sure how much NYU looks at those since its such a big school.

Why does this thread seem so dead! C’mon guys post your stats!!

Hey guys, just wanted to say I applied ED1 to MCC at Steinhardt and I was accepted even though my stats are so low. The key to admission in my opinion is first, to make it clear in your application that your world revolves around NYU. If it doesn’t, then you’re taking precious spots away from those that do feel that way. Second, email your admissions counselor! Everything you email them goes in to your file. I submitted three more letters of recommendation via email, as well as elaborated on extra curriculars and sent a lengthy essay on why I needed in. It was all added to my file and reviewed, which set me above the rest.
Lastly, when your Albert account starts changing, don’t freak out. I was admitted and my financial aid changed to the 2014 aid year beforehand, but besides that, my account did not change at all.

Hey! So NYU is my top choice! I am desperately in love! I am applying to NYU Steinhardt for Studio Art! I went to their portfolio review day and met with a lot of the teachers. I also toured the school and thats when I ultimately fell in love! I am so nervous about hearing back! I have low stats compared to what NYU wants, that makes me really nervous. But my essay is really good! ← (I hope). I went from a 1610 to and 1840 on my SAT…and I have a 3.16…I know its really embarrassing, but with my art classes I have like a 3.4…still not any better. I have showed a lot of interest in the school. I have emailed teachers and admissions people a lot. I visited them and when they visited my school I talked to them. I have interned at a theatre company for the past three years and have done a lot of volunteer work. I am not applying for any financial aid, I’m not sure if that changes anything. So yeah! Fingers crossed! I would literally die if I got in! I don’t even know what I would do!

Has anyone received their Albert stuff yet?

Yeah, I received my Albert stuff a few days ago, although I’m worried that it doesn’t say they’ve received my transcripts or portfolio yet. I’m sure it’s just because it takes a while for the system to update and for their office to process all the documents.

Anyway, anyone have chances? I posted my stats and info earlier. I’m concerned this will just become one of those threads where everyone posts their stats and no one chances anyone and it’s pointless.

what’s Albert stuff?

Just a confirmation email with your net ID & university ID

@tgese11 Are you sure it’s ok to email additional recomendations even though NYU says not to? I’m a little afraid that it might be detrimental to my application.
