First off thanks for reading this. Alright I'm having somewhat of dilemma. I wasn't going to apply to NYU at all (too pricey) but recently I decided I might as well. I went to check out the required essays and they give you three options and an option that says

"You may select one of the following topics, or you may choose to tell us something about yourself that has not been presented to your satisfaction in this application."

If I just recycle another college essay do you think NYU will care/notice? I want to get this app done asap because the deadline is Jan 1.

Also, second part of my question there is a short answer (7 lines or less) question:
"New York City is an essential element of academic and cultural life at NYU. If you could engage in an activity or start a club or service organization at NYU, what would it be and how would you envision it impacting the larger community." If I wrote about starting an atheist organization on campus (assuming they dont have one) do you think thats a way too touchy subject?

you can recycle from another college’s app as long as it ‘works’ for NYU - i think you know what i mean by that. especially if you’re applying to the so-called specific schools like stern or tisch for which showing some sort of interest/dedication to your intended field is always good.

as for the short answer thing, it wouldn’t matter if you say you’re starting an atheist organization, but with one condition. you absolutely have to be able to justify why over the 3095670593214 other sorts of clubs one can choose to start, why an atheist organization? with justification, nothing is impossible, even a “Forcing Purple Monkeys to Read Tolstoy & Thoreau Club”.

Helpful information…
Another question about the NYU application, does anyone know if you could possibly talk about a club that may already exist there? I mean, there really are loads of them… It’s hard to pick one that’s good for the essay and at the same time doesn’t already exist. If you can justify well enough why you would want to start that kind of club, would it be okay to just ‘assume’ it’s not already there?

thanks for the replies… as far as the atheist club goes it already exists at NYU and it says if you could engage in activity so im sure you don’t have to create something new for it.

for the essay I was going to the extended essay on why I would be a good candidate for stern but there was a seven line short answer that asked what made you decide on going into the field you are going into. do you still think i should recycle my ross business school essay or should i suck it up and write a new essay?
