I cannot find the official thread for Fall 2016 transfer so here I created this one. Post your stats and updates with the application to NYU. Hope to see you guys at NYU next fall!

Any comments are appreciated!

I am going to apply as a sophomore transfer also. I am applying to NYU Stern, I am majoring in Finance. I am attending a university in DC.

My SAT is low also: 1820.
HS GPA: 3.64/4, 4.25/5
College GPA: 3.87/4 first semester, major GPA 4.0, Second semester in progress
Recs: Business Entrepreneurship professor, high school guidance counselor

comments would be great also!

@paradiseeee you look as though you have a great shot and getting in! Apparently the essay is a big deal so good luck with that

@hershey789 you have a good chance to get in if you apply CAS first because Stern is so difficult. You could always internal transfer to Stern after you get in or apply Stern as a graduate student. Good luck with your essay too. Im working on it right now.

@paradiseeee I think you have a good shot at getting in. What ECs do you have?

@nyrider Thx for your comment. I participate in two LGBT organizations and one feminist alliance which are related to the thesis of my main essay. Members of photography club, film club and multiculture organization.

AHHH! I didn’t see this! I guess I’ll leave this here then: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1850588-advice-for-a-possible-transfer-su-newhouse-nyu-steinhardt.html#latest

Anything helps! Thanks a bunch if you do comment :3 I couldn’t get more lost than I already am ><

I’m not sure whether to apply for fall 2016 or spring 2017. I emailed NYU admissions and asked if I have to send in my SAT/ACT scores since I have already completed 28 credits but as of now, I’m assuming that if I apply for the fall, I’ll have to send in my standardized test scores. These are my stats.

Going to apply as a transfer student to NYU Tandon (Poly)

High school GPA - 97/100 W, 95/100 UW, 5 APs
College GPA - 4.0/4.0 UW, Brooklyn College (4-year)
ACT - 28 ( Reading - 34, Math - 29, Science - 26, English - 23)
SAT - 1840 (CR - 600, M - 640, W - 600)
EC - SDT sorority, Academic tutoring, afterschool job, We The People academic competition, Treasurer of ACE Alumni Association, Ambassador of ACE Mentor program (ACE is a STEM-based program for Architecture, Engineering, and construction management. Both are VOLUNTEER positions)
Rec - My professor for C++ wants to write me one
Honors and Scholarships - ACE Mentor Program scholarship, NYS academic scholarship, JMHS metal in physics, AP Scholar with honors award, Award in History from the New England Society.

Still haven’t written any essays but I’m going to work on them with a previous English professor who attended NYU as an English major.

I have completed 50+ college credits. Is there anyone going to submit the high school final report form which provides on the common app? Because it requires a lot of work for me to submit that, since I have attended multiple high schools overseas. It’s easy for me to request the transcripts, but it would be tough for me ask them to sign the form.

@waffle111 I attended multiple high schools as well. I was just going to have the school I graduated with complete the form. Do you not think that would be ok?

@kfellysnena im not sure, but i know that we have to send our high school transcripts.

I’m going to apply to Mchgee and major in Media Studies. Right now I’m at BMCC I have a 3.9, my major is Writing and Literature but I want to get more into the film/screenwriting/tv/media side of writing. I’m a Peer Mentor and President and Founder of a Women’s Empowerment Club. I also contribute in marketing the ASAP Evening and Weekend Program on campus. I’m also going to write and design for my school’s paper this semester (Spring 16).

Good luck everyone…Has anyone applied yet?

Hello everyone! I’m currently a freshman at a large public university in a fairly rural area looking to transfer to Stern in the fall due to the higher levels of academic rigor, diversity, and opportunity the school and city afford. Here are my stats:
HS GPA: All A’s (my HS was a small private school and didn’t measure GPA the normal way or publish class rank)
ACT: 35
College GPA: 1st semester 4.0
By the end of freshman year, I will have finished financial accounting, managerial accounting, and both micro/macro econ along with a few general ed classes.
ECs I put the most effort into:
High school: started/ran volunteer tutoring clinic, started/ran embroidery business
College: I write for a few on-campus and online publications, leadership role for a cultural club, freelance illustrations and collaboration with a small clothing print shop to sell goods with my designs, accounting case competition, international exchange student buddy program.
Recs: two college professors

Unlike many Stern transfers, I’m not interested in majoring in finance or ultimately working in the financial sector, and I don’t know if this plays any role (good or bad) in my chances. I ultimately want to work in the creative industry, possibly in large-scale media or apparel, but with a focus on the business side of things. I’m pretty nervous because I’ve heard the school’s transfer acceptance rates are notoriously low, so any advice would be appreciated. Good luck, everyone!

What’s up everyone! I figured I’d share my stats to see what you all think. I’m currently a sophomore at a community college majoring in English and I’m hoping to attend NYU Gallatin next year!
College GPA: 3.95 (got one B otherwise all As)
Highschool GPA: 94.67 (I attended a competitive and well known school that consistently ranks as one of the best in the nation, and I graduated in the top 10 of my class)
SATs: 2000
SAT 2s: 680 in critical reading, 720 in history
ECs: Member of a board of doctors, educators, and other researchers that oversees the senior projects of students at the highschool I attended;
For my own senior project i designed and developed a website for a project that was awarded a large grant and served as head of this project, I continue to work on this project as a mentor for current students;
Currently in both an honors program and Phi Theta Kappa at my community college;
In highschool I was in the national honor society, president of French honor society, in key club and help organize my local relay for life for three years;
I’ve also always had long term part time jobs that average about 20-30 hours a week
Recs: from two of my English professors who were impressed with my writing and work (gallatin has a focus on writing)
Essays: hopefully well written and imaginative

I hope I have a good chance, I really like what gallatin has to offer! Does anyone know when we can expect to hear back from NYU about decisions?

Can someone chance me as a sophomore transfer?
College GPA: 3.84 (top 50 private uni)
Major GPA: 4.00
HighSchool GPA: 3.97 weighted, upwards trend
SAT: 2280
SAT 2: Chem:700, US History:690
ECs: created and was captain of Ski team in high school, varsity debate captain for two years and was ranked second in my state, president of a HS charity, i’m a member of two or three clubs in college, worked a part time job during the summer as a receptionist
Recs: from HS guidance counselor, from college guidance counselor, and my major professor (i’ve had him for both semesters)

pls chance me, I’m applying soon! I’m applying to CAS.

Hey everyone! I’ve applied to CAS as a junior.
I’m a sophomore at Liberty University, with a 3.8 over 62 credits.
I’m on a scholarship here through my schools honors program, and am involved in weekly community service.

Really hoping to get into NYU. I’m also a NY resident.

High school grades are abysmal. I ran track at the state and national level during high school, and put no effort into academia. Once I got to college I shifted focuses.

Will a 3.8 over 62 credits give me a shot at acceptance? Anyone care to chance me?

Hi, Guys, I just wonder how many recommendation letters are you gonna submit. I see that NYU only require one letter. I have already found one professor who is gonna write me a very solid letter. But I am just not sure should find another professor who may possibly not very familiar with me considering I am in a big public university

I submitted 2. Put yourself out there and try to get another. Maybe contact you academic advisor and meet with him/her to secure a second. They would have access to your transcript. It can only help; even if it’s not as good as the first.

Hi everyone! Chance me please? I hope we all get a shot at NYU!

I’m a second semester sophomore applying to NYU Steinhardt School of Media, Culture and Comm. like paradiseee  I applied to NYU in HS but was waitlisted until August and then rejected.

Currently attending Fordham U. at Lincoln Center
High School GPA: 3.5
College Cumulative: 3.4 (This is going to be my downfall I think) and I just declared my major in Media/Comm
ACT: 31
Recs: 2 Profs I think really liked me (Theology/English), I got an A in both their classes, but neither is from the Media/Comm department
ECs:
+Interned with a big name fashion designer for all of first semester of my freshman year
+Volunteered directly for Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week through a competitive app. process last spring
+Head of Public Relations for my current college’s Indian culture club
+Won 2nd place in a French essay contest sponsored by the French Embassy last spring
+Volunteered with a local housing organization my first semester of freshman year
+Wrote for my school’s fashion and lit mags
+Student member of my hometown’s official community board for the last few years
+In HS I was an active Quizbowl/History Bowl player and I won a number of awards at both state and national level.

Essays: I finished my common app essay and multiple people have said it’s a strong essay. That being said I still have the supplement to write…
