Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship
NYU is expensive…
If you do not know of this scholarship, and you are not accepted this year, I highly recommend applying for the scholarship in the fall of 2016, if you win it would apply to your fall 2017 admission (they do not grant the awards for spring admissions)
The committee chooses 85 transfer students nationally.
You win up to $40,000 a year, for 3 years of undergraduate education
AND you can submit to earn up to $50,000 a year for graduate school (I believe it is for 5 years, but not sure on that. Only winners of the undergrad scholarship are considered.)
They look at academics, finances (you must be in financial need,) and everything “extra” you do… everything you do matters… if you have a leadership position in a school club or honors society, research, community service, awards you have won, anything you are involved in. It is a wonderful scholarship so again, if any of you choose to wait a year, or need to reapply next year please check out this scholarship <3

@waffle111 hello fellow Psi Betan!
Being in Psi Beta has been the most wonderful part of my community college experience. What are you interested in concentrating on in psychology?
@muffinpoptarte hi! I just became part of the psi beta this semester, because the advisor took a semester off we haven’t discuss what to do yet, but im looking forward
@waffle111 how exciting! I can tell you the it is because of Psi Beta that I was able to partake in so much community service. If you ever have any questions let me know! I am the president of a very active chapter; yet when i started last academic year we had a new facuty adviser and brand new members so we really were figuring it all out from scratch. who knows, maybe we will both be in the NYU chapter of Psi Chi next year!!
@paradiseeee @nyrider Did you guys have your school send your midterm report or did you send it yourself? What about the college report? Thanks!!
@nyrider I sent in both myself. note- my school doesn’t have an official midterm report so I had to have my professors physically fill in the midterm report off of commonapp and then I mailed it out.
I called the office again yesterday they told me unless they ask you to submit, you do not have to send you midterm report.

Hi, I’m an international student trying to transfer into NYU Gallatin.
I have a question regarding requirements/Common App stuff:
- I only need to submit 2 essays, right? (Why NYU and your reasons for transferring)
- Do I need to send a college report?
Thanks!
Also, I’d be super happy if a current Gallatin student could read my essays and tell me what they think.
@DuboisWoods yes and yes! 2 essays and a college report
@DuboisWoods I think we have pretty much established in this thread that the college report is not mandatory, NYU will contact you if they want it.
@muffinpoptarte I am confused, because I thought people meant that the mid-year or midterm report is the one that is not mandatory.
Yeah, I think @muffinpoptarte meant to say the midterm report, the college report is mandatory
