I just finished my freshman year at Stony Brook University and I absolutely hated it. My GPA is about 3.0 but I really want to transfer out. I live in NYC so NYU is the ideal school (because I can’t get into any other better schools). I don’t want to apply for spring because I want an extra semester’s worth of better grades to boost my GPA and apply for the fall. I’m currently a biochemistry major but everything about me is mediocre. With stellar essays, would I be able to get in?
As someone who just got in, my advice would be:
probably should work really hard in your fall semester to boost your GPA. Show that you can be a good college student. NYU really wants to know specifically why NYU is an interest for you. Be unique in telling your story about you that is your application. Dont be afraid to be specific. Also address why you are transferring. What did your last college have that NYU has?
another transfer applicant right here! We are pretty much in the same shoes besides that I am considered an international applicant. I am actually thinking about spring transfer. Wonder whether there’s a vast difference in acceptance rate between the two.
