NYU Fall 2017 Transfers Official Thread

The people who got accepted, how long did it take for the ao to send your decisions after you sent in your midterm report?

@NYUhopeful_1198 i sent my midterm report the same time as my common app back in early march

@NYUhopeful_1198 I didn’t send a midterm report, they never asked for one!

thank you guys! congrats again! so happy to see some acceptances in this group

Guys, I took ZERO AP classes in high school – do you guys think that will hurt my app?

I’m applying as a rising junior…

@lillyJ678564 i didn’t take any AP’s either bc i was homeschooled and then i went to a small private school my senior year that didn’t offer any  i took a ton of honors classes though so idk

Just received an email for my midterm report…

@thecitystars maybe that is a good sign!! congrats haha

@justsomename hopefully it is, thank you

@lillyJ678564 No youre fine I only took 2!

i also got an email to send my midterm grades

Yeah, IDK either. I’m applying as a rising junior so I hope that translates as having no effect…and what’s it like to be homeschooled? I’ve never met anyone who has been homeschooled. How does it work? @annadragon

@transfer510 I really hope so! Thanks

I know CAS is competitive as it is, but are programs within CAS harder to get into than others? Do you guys know> Or do they evaluate all applicants uniformly, no matter which program you apply for? I’m applying for biology, so do you think they would be a bit more selective since the discipline is rigorous to learn than say in comparison to English? @Transfer510

@DreamGuy I heard that they consider you for you primary school first so if you’re accepted I guess you’ll hear back when they decide on Tandon applicants (given if they have a pattern of the decisions) and if they deny you for your 1st choice, then they’ll start looking at you w. consideration to your second choice.

I’ve been told by CAS admissions that they only accept applicants who have CAS as their first choice

@1livelaughlove so wait you’re not assigned a counselor based on your locations it’s just done randomly by the school you applied in? and like they do w/ freshman applicants do they not come together in the end to make a final decision?

Is it bad that I put three choices down? I am a business major so naturally I put Stern as my first choice. Since Stern is basically not accepting any externals (or at least it is very very unlikely) I put Tandon as a second and then CAS as a third. Will that hurt my chances because I put both CAS and Tandon? I hope it doesn’t seem like I am scattered brain and that I don’t know what I want to do at NYU because my essay was heavily focused on business and finance specifically…thoughts? Thanks!

@terr24lr i also put down 3 choices i believe… i applied to tisch but i also put down CAS, lsp, and gallatin as other options because i wouldn’t mind being in those. i think if anything it shows you really want to go to nyu lol
