NYU Fall 2017 Transfers Official Thread

@lillyJ678564 yes in HS i was secretary of my volunteer club, was involved in the drama department for all 4 years and had lead roles, did SAT tutoring, and I have over 55,000 subscribers on youtube! I also did volunteer work on the side during high school. i was only at college for one semester before i took this semester off but i joined the volunteer organization at my school and became a floor representative in the resident student association (:

don’t worry about SAT scores if you have more than 32 credits as @dino12487 said above. i only have 12 credits so they still mainly look at my high school stats.

as for the college report, i would email it to your advisor, have them fill it out, then scan and email it back to you! that’s what i did and it only took a couple days. i believe the april 1st deadline is only for the application itself. you should be totally fine submitting your supplementals after the deadline (:

I know it is not required, but if it’s boosting applicants’ chances of getting in by a lot, then I wish I took the SAT and submitted test scores. I still feel numb about it.

Thanks @annadragon! What is your youtube channel – I’ll subscribe?

I sent test scores to the college I’m transferring from when I applied to it, but they are not so great…do you guys know if those are sent along with my transcript or would I have to purposely sign into the College Board site for them to be sent to NYU? I wouldn’t want them to send because I know far more now than when I first took the SAT and if I take it again I’m confident that I will score significantly higher.

@lillyJ678564 my youtube is just my name, Anna Dragonetti! If you don’t mind me asking, what were your scores like? i only had a 1960/2400 so mine were average, if not below average, for NYU. then again, i applied to Tisch so a 1960 might be considered a good score who knows lol

i don’t think you have time to take the test again and send new scores. if you sent your old scores now and rushed the delivery, they’ll probably get there in time for the office of admissions to take them into consideration!

Oh, I’m applying to CAS. I can’t remember exactly, but it was in the 1700 range, which is actually average. Your score back when I took them would actually be considered a little ABOVE average. Your SAT I think will give you a good shot at getting into Tisch and I believe it’ll definitely compensate for your GPA.

I have no ECs, at least nothing official. Does anyone know/think whether ECs are a big maker-breaker?

@lillyJ678564 i think having one or two dedicated extracurriculars is kind of important, but if your essays are good it could definitely make up for it. i think NYU is super random with who they pick honestly. i’ve seen people with 2200’s and 4.0 GPA’s get rejected while people with a 1900 SAT and a 3.0 have gotten in. it really is holistic at NYU so i wouldn’t worry about it too much

@annadragon that is so true! I have experienced that myself. This scares me even more because I don’t really know what to expect.

@lillyJ678564 Anna is right! and if you have the right amount of credits, like you high school grades they also look at your SATs less, so I don’t think it’ll weigh yo down too negatively!

and @annadragon I just subscribed to your channel! Your content seems super interesting! (: I’ve seen the same thing w/ NYU which is why I applied knowing I’m severely under qualified, but since that didn’t work out, I’m here lurking on the transfers thread lol. Are you gonna be in Tisch class of 2020 or 21?

@dino12487 thank you!! i’m honestly not sure what i’ll be… i only have 12 credits so i believe i’ll still be considered a freshman when/if i start at NYU. i could be wrong but i’ll probably be graduating in 2021. it doesn’t really bother me too much though. as long as i have my degree, that’s all that matters

@annadragon If you graduate in 2021 and we both get in, then we’ll be in the same class so yay! (: I’m planning to apply as a sophomore to Steinhardt next year with my 2nd choice as Gallatin, so I really hope it works out! Good luck!

@dino12487 good luck to you  i hope everything works out!!

Thanks guys! @annadragon @dino12487

Anyone applying for transfer to NYU CAS? If so, can you guys please post your stats?

Anyone having issue with NYU not updating Albert admission status? I emailed them about them not checking my materials as complete a week ago but they still haven’t checked it complete. All they said to me on email was that they have loads of admissions and emails coming in so I got to wait.

I suggest you to give them a call. The lady was so sweet and updated my Albert while we were on the phone.

Guys, I just submitted my application on the Common App. When do I receive an email from an NYU? What’s suppose to happen next?

CAS - English Major, rising Junior. Hi guys :)!

@lillyJ678564 they should give you your Albert ID soon

Do you know how long that takes? @thecitystars

did you guys submit your hs trancript? How do i request it? I only sent my college transcript
