@cjeong98 Don’t sweat it. If you really want to go to NYU and don’t get into Stern, maybe you should consider applying to sps and doing an internal transfer to Stern/CAS after a semester. It’s something to consider, and they offer an economics major. I researched transfer posts from previous years, and it appears that NYU gives you the option to apply to sps if you get rejected from Stern.
@fl2nyc I didn’t put down sps on my application. Isn’t it too late to add another school, or do you mean next semester? I wish I had applied to CAS and then internally transfer to Stern…
@cjeong98 If Stern rejects you, in the rejection letter, they’ll give you the option to apply to SPS for this upcoming Fall semester. So, it’s not too late.
@cjeong98 I found this info from the Fall 2016 Transfers thread. This is what the rejection letter will state:
“Although we cannot reconsider your application for admission to any of the traditional undergraduate schools and colleges at NYU for the upcoming term, the Paul McGhee Division of our School of Professional Studies represents an alternative. NYU’s McGhee Division welcomes transfer applications from students on a rolling basis for spring, summer, and fall admission. If you would like to learn more about the McGhee programs and community, visit their website for prospective students.”
@fl2nyc thanks for the info! I’m gonna look into it some more, and see if it is the right fit for me. So, if I do get rejected, just to clarify, I can still be considered for Fall 2017 admission into SPS?
P.S. I didn’t put down SPS as one of my alternatives, so would they still consider me? I just researched it a little, and I’m interested in the B.S. Hotel and Tourism Management Program
@cjeong98 Yeah, they’ll still consider you even if you didn’t initially select sps as an alternative. If your app to Stern gets rejected, they’ll offer you the option to apply to sps for the same semester.
Definitely look into it just in case. It’s nice to have alternatives for peace of mind.
@fl2nyc definitely! I looked into it some more, but is the BS Hotel and Tourism Management program part of the Paul McGhee Division? Will NYU offer me the choice of any program in the whole entire School of Professional Studies? Or only the Paul McGhee Division because on their website there are other divisions, including the NYU School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism
@cjeong98 I applied directly to sps at the end of March, and I’m still waiting for an admissions decision. The waiting is brutal!

@cjeong98 That’s a good question. I’m not sure if the option solely applies to McGhee or to all of SPS. You could call and ask them. I’ve talked to the office of admissions, and they’re really helpful.
@cjeong98 I initially applied for hospitality and tourism under Tisch, but I called the sps office of admissions and changed my major to applied analytics under McGhee.
