@msport You see it on the Common App status a day after you submit it. When it says downloaded that just means they have received it.
@cbabbinoNYU yeah I realized that after I read it again, thought poster meant they got an update on their NYU portal
when are we finding outtttttttttt
@msport I know I was freaking out and was confused for a second so I checked the portal and didn’t see anything. That’s when I realized they were talking about the Common App. I don’t know when we are finding out, there are times flying out everywhere. Admissions say mid-April to May, the portal says beginning to mid-April and there are some people saying this Friday or next week. I’m so confused…
I’m trying to wait but I wanna know ASAP
@nyu2018transfer you’re good i just called about that and they told me that they’ll only review your application when they have everything. also the lady said they will email if there’s anything missing
GUYS I HOPE WE GET IN
Hii I always read these but I haven’t spoken yet lol. I’m currently a sophomore & I applied for transfer to CAS as an economics major. I procrastinate a lot and sent mine on April 1st, the deadline. But i think in terms of hearing decisions it does matter a bit when you sent in your app because on my Albert when i click on “application status” it has a check list of what needs to be sent in. (i already sent all of my documents in before the deadline) At the top of the page it says “Our Office of undergrad admissions will update the status of the checklist below approximately 4 weeks from the date you submitted your application.” So i guess this means i may not get an answer until at least May 1st?
@jstax89 eh, it really depends on your stats. I know people who applied the day the deadline was due and were accepted even while missing something like their high school transcript.
If you have a really high GPA, you can expect to be in the first wave if you’re accepted. As NYU always takes their favorites in the first wave (highest GPA’s that will pull their rank even higher)
@cbabbinoNYU hahaha sorry for misleading you guys! I saw someone talking about not receiving email that’s why I was checking whether they had downloaded it or not.
Also my school is still filling the college report and midterm form for me… is it going to effect anything if I send them late?
@msport what’s a high GPA to NYU tho? I am asking because i have 3.78 and i am worried
@ssscarrrr78 no you’re good just send it ASAP
@burgerdebambi you’re fine.
This is so exciting
The fact that decisions could come out anytime soon is making me anxious, lol
I’ve literally had trouble sleeping ever since we passed April 1st, lol… silently dying inside
I just checked my inbox and I had 3 emails so I thought 3 schools emailed me but it was just nothing important -_-
It’s stressful lmao
@burgerdebambi thanks! I will try to send them ASAP.
@niiniin yea me too, I feel you
Hi! This is my first time on this thread but I’m kind of freaking out and I was hoping someone could tell me how I compare to other applicants! I am applying to Steinhart for Media, Culture, and Communications major. I was waitlisted last year as a first year applicant so I hope that helps a little bit but I applied for Gallatin last year. I heard the MCC major has less impressive stats than other majors at NYU so I’m hoping my stats will look better because of that. I also picked to be considered for the Liberal Studies program and the McGee division of the graduate school.
High school GPA: 3.6 (weighted)
SAT: 1400 (680 math, 720 english)
ACT: 30
AP: Submitting a 5 in psychology, 4 in AP Lang, 3 in AP Lit
College GPA: 3.8 (expected to go up after this semester), this is my first year at community college, and at the end of this year, I should have about 32 or 33 credits with my AP’s, I’ve taken a Comm and Media class which I received A’s in both
EC’s: I am worried they are weak and most of them are from high school (should I ask to submit more even though it is late?)
-Audition only concert band and marching band, played gigs such as the London New Year’s Parade
-DECA (business club) officer, 3rd in state
-Captain of Dance Team, choreographed for shows
-Volunteer at health care foundation every week
I think my essay is pretty strong and I have a good and unique angle on why I am applying for Media, Culture, and Communications. My recommendation is probably average since it’s college and it’s harder to get to know teachers but I am definitely top 5 or 10% of that class.
Please let me know what you guys think about my stats for Steinhardt and good luck to all!!!
There are a lot of people commenting on GPA but I just want to point out that I doubt admissions value the same GPA point-per-point universally across disciplines. There are some majors where it is extremely easy to maintain a 4.0, while in some of my premed classes I’ve had it where 70% of the students drop the class and out of the students that complete it maybe only one or two students receives an A.
That is a stark contrast from what I’ve experienced in my social science classes for example. When they’re reviewing your application I’m sure they will take everything into consideration. I wouldn’t be so focused on GPA
