*NYU Fall 2018 Transfer Thread*

@zachsambition i think it’s a factor tho. counselor/admission representatives at NYU told me CAS requires at least 3.7 meaning that if someone is below they can still get in but not most likely if that makes sense?

@burgerdebambi I’m pretty sure that admissions officers review the entire application before making a decision. “CAS requires at least 3.7”…where did you hear that?? LOL. That is definitely not true.

@mishk90 I’ve been checking mine like every five minutes lol

It wouldn’t be fair to a lot of people who have harder majors/after-school jobs/family responsibilities if the admissions officers looked ONLY at GPA.

I JUST GOT INTO GALLATIN! IM SO HAPPY OMG IM SHAKING AND I CRIED A LITTLE. THIS IS AMAZING! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY IM SO EXCITED!!! I didn’t even get an email, i’ve just been checking the admission status link on albert like every single day, obsessively lol, and there was an admissions decision button and i got in!! this is so crazy, i’m so happy and thankful omg!!! just wanted to put this out there, admissions can come whenever (not trying to stress everybody out but just a heads up) and it could come before you get an email i guess. this is so crazy I’m so happy! sending positivity to everybody else on here, wish you guys the best luck!!! this is incredible

@hope2018transfer CONGRATULATIONS!! That’s amazing. I applied to Gallatin too, so fingers crossed we both end up there! What were your stats, if you don’t mind me asking??

i wonder if they also take into account the school that the applicant is coming from…

@hope2018transfer omg congratulations!!! hope to see you in the fall!!!

@hope2018transfer also when did you apply??

@hope2018transfer CONGRATS!! Did you have any of the changes?

@hope2018transfer YOOO congrats!!! stats? when did you submit commonapp?

ACCEPTED TO CAS!!!

@schoolgirl98 Good luck!!! I really you hope you get in!!! fingers crossed for sure!! I had around a 3.6 high school GPA (it was better at my high school than it sounds, if that makes sense? like that sounds kinda low, but it’s not for the high school i went to, and i took pretty much every advanced and AP class that i was able to), a 34 ACT, i sent in 2 SAT subject tests i got 720 and 730 on those, 3.65 first semester college gpa at a 4 year college (I got one B and that really brought me down for some reason lol i thought it would totally ruin my chances), mid-term report was 4 A’s and one A-, i think my recs were probably pretty good (i hope)? i asked my high school guidance counselor to do one since NYU says they prefer that if you have spent less than a year in college, and I sent an additional one from a TA i had first semester in a class i did pretty well in (99 on final exam somehow lol idek how that happened) he was a really nice guy and he helped me a lot throughout the semester, i went to his study sessions every week, so he probably wrote a pretty good rec actually

i also applied last year, but to stern, and i didn’t end up getting off the waitlist. i’m not sure how much that actually impacted anything tho Lol because i called in like november and asked how being waitlisted last year would affect chances applying as a transfer student and I like mentioned that i had applied to stern and was now applying to Gallatin, and the guy on the phone was like “yeah that’s ok, don’t worry too much it’s mainly about how you describe your plan for what you want to study” which made me think that they don’t care too much if you got waitlisted which is good i guess? and it seems like they weight the essay pretty heavily.

i really really hope you get in!!! best of luck!

@nyu2018transfer thank you so much!!! i hope to see you too! i applied 3/23

@way2stressed0ut thank you!!! i don’t think i had any changes, like there was nothing when i would click transfer credit or the financial aid stuff or the housing stuff. it might be because this was pretty early and they’re just getting started? i’m not sure but no i couldn’t tell if anything did change. good luck to you!!!

@msport thank you!!! i submitted my common app on 3/23, and i just posted like a little paragraph a little bit up about my stats it’s post #253 , good luck! i really hope you guys all get in too! i feel so good right now like this is amazing i’m so happy!!!

@razoryanks25 congrats!! stats?? when did you apply? i applied to CAS in february! does your decision button appear above your checklist in albert?

congrats everyone! Does anyone else not getting their portal info yet? I submitted mine on April 1st, didn’t receive anything from NYU yet…

@hope2018transfer @razoryanks25 WHAAAATT OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!! YAAAS you deserve this!
