Our S is interested in auditioning for jazz performance at this year's fall open house in November. Has anyone had any experience with this? Should he prepare the same material as what is requested on the prescreener or be prepared to perform what would be requested at a spring audition? He is applying regular decision.

Thanks

Hi trombonemom, my son was unclear about this too so he e-mailed someone at NYU and they said to prepare what is requested for the prescreen audition. Then there still may or may not be an invitation back for spring auditions.

DD did this for vocal performance and it was run exactly the same as a regular audition. You just did not have to have submitted an application yet. She completed the application afterwards. They had asked her if she was going to apply and said "good" when she said yes. That was the most info she got. Then she had to wait for the regular decision date. They were one school that did not offer much merit money and I kind of think that going so early affected that. She was much better later in the audition season.

Thanks to all. We'll let you know how it goes
