Kay so....I'm a high school senior, girl, and I applied RD to Tisch's film/tv program. (beware, this is thorough!)

Here are the things that went to the regular NYU admissions office (50% of review):

-GPA: 3.67 unweighted, 3.87ish weighted (we usually go on a 6.0 scale but I converted for that)
-rank: 65 out of 852
-SATs: 2140 (720 verbal, 720 math, 700 writing)
-SAT IIs: 740 Literature, 670 Math II, 610 U.S. History (best scores out of two tries each)
-National Merit Finalist (PSAT)
-NHS, Spanish NHS
-Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) member 12th grade (VP, video editor), Academic Decathalon 12th gd (chosen for team), Literary Club 11th gd, Marching Band & Concert Band 9th & 10th gd (made top band 10th gd, back up section leader for pit during marching)
-various awards at academic decathalon district competition, 1 on uil solo & ensemble comp, 2nd place at DECA writing comp

-I took Algebra I and Geometry in junior high

-Sophomore year classes: Band II, Pre-Calculus (H), Video Technology, Communication Application (dumb required regulars course), Health (ditto), English II (GT, which is like H but a bit higher), Spanish II; Chemistry in summer school

-Senior year classes: English IV (AP), World History (H), Independent Study of English (GT), Government (AP), Creative Writing, Marketing, Photography II

-have little volunteer work, but app didn't really ask about it
-worked at Target as cashier/photo lab assistant since August (sent app in January)

-Chose the essay topic "What book or television show or movie had an impact on you and why?"; I wrote about Days of our Lives and how everyone was both a victim and a perpetrator and it made me more able to see past the bad in people and see the good (lol off the wall I know, but I wanted to stick out)

Here's what went to Tisch for portfolio review (50%):

-Creative Resume: 3 short scripts, 18 live-action videos, 2 stop-action videos (almost all 20 of these were written, filmed, directed, and edited by me, and I noted that); Classes - Art, Photography, Video Tech, Band I & II, Music Theory, Creative Writing
-Dramatic Essay: Too hard to explain so we will omit this
-Video: 10minutes, 30 seconds (30 sec over limit but they said that was probably okay). It started out animated (not too well but it was just to show a point and it was okay) and went into a graphic novel about a fairy and a boy that escape from a demon and she loses her memory while they are trying to find their way through the forest. She starts to remember bits and pieces through flashbacks, and blah blah blah (eventually get captured, tragic, battle, death, etc etc). The demon has wings that I added on animated frame by frame throughout the whole thing. It also fades in and out between real people and graphic novel pages a few times. And since the whole thing is supposed to be within a graphic novel, there is no dialogue (just constant music) but instead there are speech bubbles like in comics.

uhmmm what do you think of my chances? the video is out there too, but again, i wanted to stick out. now im thinking that may not have been such a good idea but, i dont know. any thoughts from people familiar with nyu (or random people, heck, i dont care!) would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
