Hey guys Im not sure what I want to do as a career yet.

Im interested in finance and banking as well as medicine. I applied to CAS so im wondering will I be able to take the classes that will give me a good shot at Business School without being at Stern.

I applied to CAS because I wanted to take the classes required for Med School in case that is what I end up deciding to do.

Does not being at Stern ruin my chances for business school and a career in finance or can i still major in finance at CAS?

Finance is a major in Stern, so no, you can't major in Finance if you're in CAS.

That doesn't mean that you wouldn't have a good shot at MBA programs. Less than a third of Stern's MBA students did an undergrad in business, about the same number who did a degree in arts, humanities and social sciences. Most MBA applicants have worked for about five years before they go to business school anyway so you're going to find a variety of different types of degrees and work experience.

If you're unsure, CAS is probably your best bet.

I know theres no classes that are required for B-School but if thats what I wanan do later on in life shouldn't I focus on business related classes?

I understand your dilemma but if you wanted to focus on business related classes, you really should have applied to Stern. The max you can take at Stern if you're in CAS is 16 credits, which is practically nothing, and certainly wouldn't be considered a 'focus'.

yeah then you can't do a finance major, howvere you can take the econ theory concentration, which is the quantitative more finance-oriented concentration (instead of policy) within Econ in CAS
