NYU financial aid appeal?

NYU gave me a financial aid package of 35550 in grants and scholarships, 3000 work study, and gave me every possibleloan to equal the total cost of attendance.... Therefore I would have a debt a little over 90000 after four years..

My EFC=00000...

My parents income is even lower than what I first put on the fafsa that the school received...
Would a meeting with a nyu financial aid counselor make a difference ? or does nyu keep decisions final? Because unless I get more I will not attend the school... Insight??

Too much debt.

Did you amend and resubmit your FAFSA? All this would do is qualify you for any federally funded aid.

NYU also requires the CSS Profile and that is used to determine the awarding of their institutional monies. Did you amend that too? NYU does NOT guarantee to meet the full need of their accepted students, and as you can see…they don’t. Your aid package actually sounds like a generous one to me from NYU $35K in grants and scholarships.

You can ask for a REVIEW of your financial aid award…but really, have a back up plan if they say no. I personally can’t see them increasing your already generous (for them) need based award. But then I’m not a financial aid officer at NYU.

You will not get enough more to make a dent. Move on.

Yes I updated both, my backup is almost a full ride to BU, and I really like the school, I just wanted to check my chances for NYU before I finalized my decision…From what I’ve read, NYU isn’t as generous as other schools

Congrats on the full ride to BU. You should take it and not look back.
Go to the school that values you!

NYU isn’t going to work out. Even if you could get some adjustment, it would only be a few thousand, not enough to make a dent.

Your parents income may be lower, but your EFC can’t be less than 0, so that’s it.

Congrats on BU…go there!

Congrats on BU, like others say, at best NYU would give you a couple thousand.

Have fun in Boston!!

You should realize that NYU and Financial Aid are oxymorons when used together…

this sucks…nyu only gave my 26,500, so I will be about 120,000 in debt not counting the amount that gradually is tacked ontot his number…this is a dream for me but I am seriously considering cuny hunter now. I still was not told if I get any scholarship though.

^ $120K debt is not a dream. That is a nightmare. I see that you are from CA. What schools did you get into there?

uc santa barbara and san francisco state

ucsb was nice but it just isnt my style. plus the foreign lahguage department has no special pprogram, sfsu has a special program for chinese but no one graduates on time…hunter seems to be best for me now
