Hi, I have a question about NYU's financial aid. I was accepted into Gallatin, and when I opened the financial aid package it said NOTHING about scholarships, whether based on merit or need. I was surprised, because my parents make $80,000 a year. Should I appeal? I submitted on FAFSA on time.
I think it's absolutely preposterous for NYU to expect their students to pay $60,000 a year without any financial aid.

Well, to put things into perspective, I got $500 of aid and my parents make $60,000.

You aren’t entitled to aid, so NYU can charge what they want. They don’t even pretened to meet need. You can call the FA office, but I believe FA packages cannot be appealed. And, even if they could, you would not be able to go from 0 aid to a lot of aid.

Did you submit the CSS?

Yes, if you only sent the FAFSA they wouldn’t have given you an award, since they use the CSS. If you didn’t send it, you haven’t met the qualifications for aid.

If you did: not everyone got their financial aid in the mail. You should check Albert (although I don’t think they put it there for Gallatin), then call them. If you were a dual admit to two campuses, the international campus (for some adfska reason) will have your New York aid. I called 5 times before I could get my package (also wasn’t in the mail). NYU is 22,000 undergrads, don’t expect them to run smoothly.
