Hey, I just got accepted to NYU Tisch (well, I got my little Saturday in the Square invite) and I'm just wondering about financial aid for the college. Since NYU is a ridiculous amount of money (45,000 or something like that) I was just trying to figure out what kind of financial aid to expect. My family makes about 90,000 a year, so admission would be literaly half of all of our combined income, and we're paying off loans for my older sibling who just graduated from college. Also, when I get my package from NYU/Tisch will I be receiving financial aid information in there, or will it come later? We've filled out the FAFSA and all of that fun stuff so... just a ballpark figure from anyone's personal experience? Also, if it's not enough money, does talking to financial aid counselors help at all? Even personally going down to visit with them? Thanks

Matt, the Saturday on the Square invitation means that you are in a priority group for financial aid. I do not know how much aid you will get -- but it's very possible that they will meet your FAFSA EFC with a substantial grant in addition to loans and work study; merit aid is a real possibility.

My daughter applied to NYU with a top academic profile and moderate need. They expected us to pay more than half of my take-home pay. Bottom line? There is no financial aid at NYU! She went to a top-tier private (Wellesley) instead, where she was offered 20K grant aid per year.
