NYU Florence??

GSP in Florence?

What is this all about?
And is it a crap deal?
If you get in here as opposed to a direct admission to NYU in NY, does it mean you're not really wanted?
If anyone has the lowdown on the Florence program please feel free to comment etc.

Is there no way to just go directly to NY?
And why do people get into Florence and not just NYU?
And do all international applicants who get rejected get put in Florence?

i think that nyu florence is a special program that you have to go to if you are applying from abroad, but im not sure. I know a lot of people who have gone there, and I think that it isnt bad or anything, its just where they put all the international students to get them adjusted or whatever. I may be wrong though

I live in Italy and the last time I was in Florence there were a lot of kids from NYU-Florence there. I don't think it's a program solely for international students but most of them seem to be international kids. A lot of international kids go straight to NYU too, so it just depends I guess.

Yeah, I got the Florence deal as well...
I know two other people who applied to NYU and both got in directly...
it does sound like a crappy deal to me... and a year in a country where I can't speak the language doesn't work in its favour.

hey, i dont think its a crap deal at all. the program is called freshman year in florence, and is solely for international students and US citizens living abroad. it's under the GSP program, but you can apply for this one. here's program's the site for more information:

<a href="http://admissions.nyu.edu/florence%5B/url%5D">http://admissions.nyu.edu/florence</a></p>

i applied for it, and got in. :D

hey i got dis **** too.......:( .....doesnt sound too promising......y cant they straight away say NO?

The program in Florence for freshmen is mainly for international applicants who have been referred to GSP. While it's true that there will be some other freshmen there, the vast majority will be internationals and Americans living abroad. Not all international applicants are referred to Florence, only those who would be placed in GSP. You do the freshman year there, then move to NYC.

The freshmen year in Florence program is part of a two year associates degree program. I think apply to a school at NYU during your second year. Where I come from, it is known as the "back door" to NYU, meaning that you have a better chance of getting in here than directly applying to NYU.
