NYU for CS (minor/dual major in Math?)

I'm very interested in Computer Science and was accepted into NYU CAS. It appears that CS is as a part of the Courant Institute which is renown for its Math program. Having said that, NYU's ranking for CS on USNews is only around 31, similar to other colleges I've gotten into which happen to be a lot cheaper, e.g. stony brook.

I am considering a minor in Mathematics, or even a dual major, as I do have a great interest in Mathematics as well, and Courant is great for that...but is Courant truly good for pure CS?

I've done some research, and CS professors at Courant appear to be from top institutions (e.g. MIT), and the department seems to be doing some promising research. But, I'd still like to hear everyone's opinion. Money is not the primary concern here - but I need to know if NYU is really worth the extra amount over Stony Brook in my case.

Thanks in advance!

Over SUNY SB? Of course.

Hehe, well thanks for the assurance. I am definitely leaning to NYU.

Any other thoughts…I’m also considering RPI.

Would love to hear from anyone who has experience in the Courant Institute.

one of my friend is currently going to RPI as a freshman, but what ive heard from him is the campus is kinda dangerous and realllly small/boring

it’s NY so at least you will have many things to do here. of course, if you want lush and green then no unless you count Central Park. lush and green campuses are boring and more dangerous (darker and tend to be abandoned at night)

yea thanks for your input…I decided on NYU :)
