NYU for GRAD SCHOOL

I've been pretty confused lately, mostly because NYU is a hard financial burden for me. The loans are gonna be killer, and I won't even have a Master's Degree by the time I graduate. I'll also have to commute from Staten Island; not so tough in it's own right, but an issue nonetheless.

I have the opportunity to attend my safety school, completley free of charge. My parents have alreadya greed that, should i attend here, i would be allowed to rent out an apartment (roughly the cost of an NYU dorm for 1 yr). So the issue arises: I know i want my masters, i know i want to attend NYU--

would it be best to be a UG at my safety and apply for grad school at NYU? Is it the same/similar kind of 'feel?' I kind of think that Grad school has a more professional attitude, but than again what do i know about grad school?

Its a difficult decision, and for all those who would reply, i ask for honest opinions rather than selling-points and sales pitches. thanks

bump .......

NYU is undoubtedly expensive. i can't even imagine attending there except for grad school. so in your situation, i would attend the safety school and look at NYU for grad school. "free of charge" has to be a beautiful thing so IMO, take advantage of the help your parents are giving you.
