Do you (or someone you know) know the total amount of sudents taken in the freshmen class at Tisch for the Dance department (not CAP 21)?

Wednesday I got a letter from Tisch dance dept. stating I had passed the audition and they would be reviewing my academics. Do you know if they send this to all ED dance majors, or is this kind of a "letter of intent"?

chocolate- it really is a matter of preference. I honestly love what I'm learning (I'm a comm major). However, there are some people who are sick of the theory and do not like the program. There is little I would change about it. I can see though that the people in steinhardt are not as intellectual as those in cas as a whole (not by a whole lot though). But hey, that just makes me look better. I can't complain.
It really depends on your professor. For example my human communication and culture class is by far the easiest class I'm ever going to take in college. For some people though, it is their hardest. It completely depends on the professor. The professors are smart though. So if you were questioning their knowledge you have no need to fear. Some though think they are better than everyone else and are a bit of prick due to that belief. I am taking 2 classes within my major this semester. One has over 300 people, but you have recitations with about 20-25. My other class has 22 people. These are intro classes too keep in mind. I do not think that steinhardt as gsp. I have never heard of anyone in it...unless it is extremely small. I know stern has it but VERY FEW are in it. So that may be the case for steinhadt and I just may have not run into anyone in that situation. I do not think that it does offer gsp though. Call up the school, it is easy enough to find out.

imaty- I really do not know specifics about tisch like that. sorry

Could you tell more about being a comm major? I know Communication Studies is one of the most popular majors at Steinhardt. Do you think its easier to get into Steinhardt then CAS? Why did you choose your major? What do you plan on doing (career wise/graduate school)? Why did you choose Communication Studies over Journalism? Could you state your stats?

Thanks so much. It is very hard to come by a Steinhardt student.

I think it is slightly easier to get into steinhardt than cas. Of course if you ask NYU they'll say that all of their schools are equally competitive, which is not the case. I chose communications because I know that I want to pursue advertising. I'm not sure about graduate school yet, it is still too early to tell. I'll pm you my stats

What's the deal with Gallatin admissions? Is it actually true that it's easier to get into than CAS? Not asking for my chances but just a little info about the Gallatin admissions and how they're different from Stern and CAS.

Sang- I know prospective freshmen are required to take 2 sat IIs now, however since when you would have been a freshmen this was not required I am not sure. Just call up - it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to find out.

seashore- I wish I applied to Gallatin. I have encountered a lot of people in this school who have no idea what they want to do and they got in. I thought you needed to be uber-specific in what exactly you wanted to accomplish and that is not the case. Plus, you do not have to take any of the dreaded MAP courses including Writing the Essay, which imo is worth it in itself. I do not know if in fact it is easier to get into though.

Hepstar- You should apply to steinhardt if you want to be a math teacher. The programs are very specific- there is one for math education.

I want to answer questions too!
I love that I actually have knowledge for once, cause I was so lost for info when I was applying. :)
I'm in Tisch for Theatre and and International if that's of any use to people. And I have a good mix of friends in different dorms/schools/majors/years.

I know NYU is very focused on research, are there opportunities for students to engage in research?
How is the academic advising?
Typically what are the most popular schools students get accepted to for graduate schools?

and
doesanyone know how NYU considers upwards trends

okay okay
basically im doin chances /though u said no
but do my stats look for CAS, or even GSP
I had a really low gpa freshman and sophomore year...3.17

dont answer if u dont want to but firewalker or merumerume
please answer if ur willing

Stop asking your chances, BIGTWIX! People's answers won't be any different from the last hundred times you asked. And you're still a junior, so nobody really can tell you with any precision. And nobody on here can really give you an accurate estimate anyway because NYU is so unpredictable, even if you were a senior, which you're not. So stop asking.
