Hahaha. It's all about the ladies. And the ladies here are impossible.

i applied ed as a philosophy major. gpa unw: 3.6 and sat i: 2030 satLit:700 and 2c:670
i did a lllotttt with karate and it shows in my ec. also with church praise band and other community service stuff
essay was pretty okay i think.
what do you think?

How are the girls in hayden more impossible than other halls?

i like girls :)...
i just thought i should let everyone know.

Hows Rubin Hall in your opinion?

How mac-friendly is NYU? Prospective CAS Econ major here. I despise windows XP so I'm getting a mac.

Well, I haven't had any success with the ladies here in Hayden, nor with any other girls here (but thats a different story)...so that should be worth something.

Rubin hall is...a joke. If you like dealing with no electricity and no water...pick rubin. The only good thing about Rubin are the rustic looking elevators; pretty neat.

It's pretty mac friendly...lots of people use them here. Im a hardcore PC enthusiast so...to hell with macs.

I live in rubin hall, as for the aforementioned complaints: lack of hot water<--happend like 3 times, only affected me once, but its not like i took a cold shower, it was merely the fact that instead of the water getting steaming when you turned the showerhead all the way, it just became luckwarm, not cold at all. No water <--happend once when the water tower on top of the building had some problems, I still brushed my teeth etc, can happen to any dorm with a watertower on top (Brittany, Hayden, Goddard, Rubin). No electricity <-- when did that happen? dont even remeber, must have been during the day when I was at class or something. the only time i had problems with electricity was when both light bulbs went out in my room and it was dark..ooo scary... was fixed the next day. Rubins a nice dorm if you only want to pay 2,900 a semester for housing, live on 5th ave and 10th street (close to union square dorms, and very close to wash square).

I don't remember the power going out either.

What's your opinion of Goddard?

How about dorms in general? What's the best for a first-year, what kind of people live where, locations, quality, etc?
I'm ED at Tisch for acting. NYU is the only school I'm applying to where I don't have any friends who go there that I can ask.

Goddard? It's like all explorations people...and they all stick to their own group; Ive barely met any people from Goddard.

I know a few people at goddard, cant speak for the rooms. But its ridiculously close to campus, the windows go out to the park for part of the building, and others go out right onto other NYU buildings. I would say its just like rubin, Hayden and brittany: you can get lucky with a nice room, or not so lucky.

How difficult do you think it would be for a commuter to get relatively the same college experience as you, and how difficult do you think it would be for a commuter to be involved in all of the clubs and extracurriculars?

don't be a commuter! There are none who like it no matter how close they live to nyu - live in dorm freshmen year that's where you make the majority of your friends

If you can't afford it, don't worry. There are a few commuter groups I know of (a friend of mine is in it, actually) and it's not ideal, but it's doable.

Commuters will have a ridiculously difficult time with college. Every commuter I know wishes he/she dormed. As for friends, I made my friends through classes because they happen to be the more intelligent people that I know. Clubs and stuff meet in the evening (6-9), so if you have morning classes you will have a huge gap in your schedule. Dorm life is an amazing, intergral part of the college experience. Don't give it up.

hey all, i was just deferred from columbia yesterday, althought i was very disappointed i still have hope. My gpa uw is 3.9, student body president, lots of EC's, ok ACT score, very good recs... what are my chances at NYU?
