Hello,

I was wondering if you would be able to chance me for NYU (which is currently my first choice) and possibly give me advice as how to better prepare myself (in terms of college apps and meeting requirements and all)–I’m currently a Junior. Here are my stats:

-3.96 Unweighted GPA (I calculated it myself–my school doesn’t calculate GPA, so it might be a tad off.)
-I haven’t taken the SAT yet, but I got a 182 on my PSAT (with very little, if no studying). I’m aiming to get a 2000 or above when I take the SAT this winter (do you think I’ll be able to reach my goal)?
-APs: Calc AB, French, Biology (Possibly Environmental Science, English, Statistics, and Psychology for senior year)
-Extra-Curriculars: Teach three to five year-old children at church, Interfaith program, Diversity Club at my school, Interfaith Club at my school, Tutoring (at my school and elsewhere), (Student) Ambassador (give tours at my school), School’s Newspaper, Summer Engineering Program, Mentor for Summer Engineering Program (summer after I was an actual student), Drama Productions at my school (acting and tech), Tennis, Assistant to Middle School Tennis Coach

Right now, I’m interested in (Global) Public Health, as well as Psychology and English (Literature). How would I fare if I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences and/or Steinhardt?

Also, I am probably getting ahead of myself, but what are the dorms like at NYU (for freshmen, I guess)? What is/are your favorite(s)? I’ve never been away from home, so I’m kind of nervous. Not to be too picky, but how are the dorms in terms of cleanliness and social life (and things like that)?

Thank you!

Whats a typical week like in your life at NYU?

If I go to NYU poly, how hard is it to transfer to other schools at NYU? like CAS?

Is it as hard to make friends here as they say?

@citygirl21 - not really. It’s very different from high school, because you’re not seeing the same faces over and over every day, but it’s definitely not impossible to make friends. For example, everyone on my floor in my dorm are GREAT friends - we all have our doors open all the time and just hang out with each other and go out. Also, you’ll quickly bond with the people in your classes, especially the smaller ones. And if you’re in a smaller program (I’m in dramatic writing - 48 people), it’s VERY easy to find friends with similar interests. Also, there are literally hundreds of clubs to join, plus greek life. If you put just a little effort in and put yourself out there with a smile, you’ll be totally fine!
