I have applied to the 6 week summer program at NYU for this summer

I have taken classes relating to fashion over the summer at LIM and FIDM

I plan on having a concentration including fashion, business, and sociology and its affect on fashion

if anyone is currently in gallatin, do you know of anything i should be doing to help my chances?

What are your test scores. Have you talked to your parents about how much they’ll pay. Nyu gives lousy aid.

I am taking an SAT class and i am taking the SAT in may and june so i do not know my score. NYU now gives the option of submitting 3 AP scores to supplement, so depending on how i score on the SAT’s, i may chose to submit other test scores.

The cost of NYU does pose somewhat of a problem and my family and i are discussing our options (it really depends if i get any aid, but that is something i really wont know until i apply.

thank you so much for a reply, any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can be hopeful, but protect yourself by having other options. NYU is famous for only really helping students with very high stats and not too much need.

Did you take the PSAT? how did you do?

Your areas of interest sound very much in line with the strengths of Gallatin, NYU and studying in New York City. Being able to express your idea for for interdisciplinary study clearly in your application suppplement for Gallatin seems important, and also demonstrating how you’ve come to the conclusion that these are your interests through actual activities.

Please don’t be put off by all the people who tell you NYU has lousy aid. Of course, finances are important and it is critical to understand these issues with your parents. However, not everyone finds that NYU has bad aid and there are sometimes multiple ways of addressing this problem and balancing the merits of the opportunity against its costs.

My son is a Gallatin freshman and I am impressed by the approach – and by the interesting, successful people I meet who turn out to have studied here.

mom2collegekids- I havent taken the PSAT since the beginning of the year and i got a 192. As i have stated, i am taking classes in order to get this score much higher before i take the actual SAT.

momwonders- Thank you for your words of encouragement. I think Gallatin is the perfect fit for me! Hopefully i will get into the summer program because I am planning on taking a class under the Gallatin program.

Gallatin students are very interesting but my friend tells me that they’re known to be the school “with the weird kids you should stay away from.” Your stats so far seem pretty good (Gallatin students’ stats are very very strong).
