I know Greek Life isn't big at NYU, but I'm really interested in rushing a sorority should I decide to attend. I didn't want to attend a school with big Greek Life, but feel like at NYU it might be something that would really be great for me and I'm excited that I've been accepted to a school that has Greek life along with everything else I wanted. Are freshman able to rush in the fall, though, or do they have to wait until Spring/Sophomore Fall to rush? Any help would be appreciated!

i wouldn't rush in the fall. rushing can get intense and you're going to want to get to know your suitemates/floormates before running off to rush a sorority. get used to college first and THEN rush. i think freshmen can do spring rush, but i would wait until sopohmore year. you need to get used to NYC and NYU first.

that post has to do with greek life in general.

I dunno if this is too late for the person that asked but [Inside NYU Greek Life](http://insidenyugreeklife.blogspot.com/) is a pretty good tongue in cheek rundown of Greek fraternity life on campus. It is not PC but it’s an honest take, at least perception wise. There is another one by the [Inside NYU Greek Life](http://insidenyugreeklife.blogspot.com/) people for sororities that they took down to update apparently. They deal a little less roughly with the sororities (maybe they are sororities) which did not help as much in terms of insight. THe fraternity rundown includes a lot of the orgs that may be under one or another umbrella or none at all.

When people were discussing rush it is probably a best bet to look at the different fraternities (and sororities) and send them an email because those under different umbrella groups or no umbrella groups can have different schedules and not pursue their process the same.

Freshmen can rush in the fall. I hear fall rush is pretty intense for girls, but you have a smaller chance of getting into something than in the spring. So I would go fall freshman year for sure.
