NYU Gym?

Does NYU have a Recreation/Gym to use for free? A lot of schools including my last university had one, but I havent found any info on one for NYU - does anyone know?

I know some of the dorm buildings do have a free gym. I don't know if you can use another dorm's gym, though.

Yes, there are two...the bigger one is Coles.

Anywhere I can find pics of the gyms? Or does anyone know how well equipped they are?

Coles: http://www.nyu.edu/athletics/facilities/coles.php

Palladium: http://www.nyu.edu/palladiumathleticfacility/facilities.html

Hmm well Coles says "Coles offers the following for STUDENT ATHLETES"

so im not sure if only athletes are allowed...

Palladium is $100 bux a semester. Screw it...

I'm with you on this one.

The Coles one seems good enough.

Is a $100 really a lot for a whole semester?

what the heck are you guys talking about, both gyms are free and open to everyone with an nyu id.

mattistotle, if you look at the membership page of Palladium, it says $100 per semester and $50 for the summer for matriculated students. That's gay if it's true...

Sorry, I only spent 2 semesters at NYU and went to the gym several times a week, of course I wouldnt know.

Students can use either gym--I have taken a tour of both facilities. It does look like they charge $100/semester for Palladium which, interestingly enough, wasn't mentioned on the tour. However, that's a reasonable price for what you're getting.

We are also paying $45,000/yr...for some reason I thought that would mean you could access the NYU facilities :-P Oh well, I guess we'll find out. It doesn't seem logical that you'd have to get a gym membership.

...why does no one listen to me ever, when I'm usually the only one in these threads who has gone to NYU.

haha thats hilarious, some people here are just so thickheaded sometimes

Dude, I believe you man

I believe you lol. I was just making a comment to the OP about saying $100 seemed "reasonable."

I think the student maintaining matriculation is for students who are enrolled but not currently attending nyu because the fee is the same for a student on academic leave. however, regular students don't paying anything...mattistotle said

lol i wish i went to nyu but this board is soo funny. i have friends who will be attending stern, and i've heard the gym facilities are free of charge...and even if it werent, $100 per semester is an amazing bargain for what your getting (compare it to new york sports clubs or crunch, where you'd pay around $80/month).

Yes, and part of what makes it so funny is that we're so serious about it. :)
